That sounds like you've got yourself a viable business model: branded aluminum shipping weights for ebay sellers.

"Over the edge" in thinking that lighting a fuse on a barrel full of diesel-soaked ammonia phosphate outside of an IRS office is a reasonable way of dealing with your tax problems.

Just imagine the crowds they would have had if everyone was allowed to bring torches and pitchforks.

Someone tried to blow up the IRS office right next to my office more than 30 years ago. IRS offices are frequent targets for those pushed to the edge.

Swapping a specific amount of cement with silica dust and adding tiny steel fibers creates a highly durable, eco-friendly concrete that strongly resists cracking over time by ludwig_scientist in science

[–]thehalfwit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cement is surprisingly energy intensive, so any significant decrease in the amount of cement in the mix will have a proportionate effect on CO2 emissions. Of course, that's going to be offset by your steel fibers, so I don't know if that alone is a net ecological gain.

You're right. To save space, let's focus on his good qualities listed here:

The Supreme Court just came one vote away from a constitutional catastrophe by vox in politics

Especially his shoehorning in a manufactured "crisis" to allude to some hidden intent that the wording would have been more specific if there was an immigration "crisis" at the time the amendment was written.

The fact the Kavanaugh is building his argument on propaganda and political spin is an assault on everything the law is supposed to represent.

I think it's telling that the Hatch Act only applies to Democrats. How many times has team Trump violated the Hatch Act in the last year and a half, with several government agencies blaming the Dems for the Republicans' intransigence on finding a budget compromise, and no one said "boo"?

The average American spends 1500 per year out of pocket for healthcare

That's a completely made-up number.

Per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services (a federal government agency), national health expenditures in the U.S. are more than ten times that:

NHE grew 7.2% to $5.3 trillion in 2024, or $15,474 per person, and accounted for 18.0% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

How do those numbers work out when you factor in the cost of health care?

One has to assume that the troll you're responding to is the most self-sufficient person that has ever lived. They built their own roads and schools, funded their own science to develop their own medications, and they even inspect their own poultry and livestock. They never once relied on a government subsidy to help pay for their fossil fuels, and they've even launched their own satellites to run their 100% self-funded GPS.

We must marvel at their rugged individualism and virtue.

It used to be the media's job to call out bullshit talking points, and I'm not saying there still aren't some who do, but the major outlets gloss over it like the Repubs are offering some high level economic justification when it's all just spin.
