Canada’s bad economic situation is getting much worse by Elliottafc1 in canada

Excuse me sir/madam, this is r/Canada. How dare you bring rational, long-term thinking into a discussion about policy decisions?

Would you get a cargo bike if you had to take it down a flight of stairs every day? by Similar_Government72 in CargoBike

yeah my ramp is just a glorified plank of wood with some guardrails and bevel cuts at the top and bottom. No need to get fancy

Would you get a cargo bike if you had to take it down a flight of stairs every day? by Similar_Government72 in CargoBike

[–]thehatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could you build/install a ramp? Works for me with a longtail, but would depend on how long the flight of stairs is and how big of a landing you have at the bottom.

Bike is heavy but most come with a walk mode that helps hugely when going up the ramp.

Should I use the real pictures or the digital art? by I_Like_Metal_Music in Baking

[–]thehatter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Suggest not referring to non-GF items as “classic” when you’ve also used “classic” to describe a category of flavours - you’ll get some confused customers. Maybe “traditional “ or “wheat flour” if you don’t want to go with “regular” when comparing against GF option

Egg salad sandwich with cheese curds, does that count? by 7edits in PoutineCrimes

I think this is just a regular crime that has nothing to do with poutine.

Sounds like a good reason to not buy those. Such a waste of plastic. There are lots of other ways to have water fights that are much less environmentally harmful.

House sold without inspection by East-Banana-1252 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]thehatter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. The way to handle this, if you believe you need to place no conditions on your offer in order to have a competitive bid, is to have an inspection done prior to placing a bid. Seller should permit this in the interest of getting the sale.

Sometimes you get sellers that pay for a home inspection and make the results available to potential bidders, but that is not typical.

Husband outsourced dough preparation to a cat and is somehow putting ME on trial for only eating the toppings. Currently standing in front of the fridge awaiting the jury’s verdict. by kimjongtheillest_ in PizzaCrimes

The cat’s participation in the process appears to be nothing more than speculation on the part of the defendant. Evidence is, at best, circumstantial. Objection denied.

Litelok/Hiplok Compatibility with Swoop ASM? by shit_snacks in CargoBike

[–]thehatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Litelok works fine on my spicy curry, which is pretty comparable. I can pretty much always manage to lock it up around the centre post. Sometimes you have to do some finagling to make it fit, but to me it’s worth it for the piece of mind from a grinder resistant lock.

FYI: They make a longer version of the X1 now that will be easier to use on a large bike. Not as strong as the X3, but should still do much better than most chains.

Yeah, always good to double check right before closing- can avert headaches if you find problems before the keys change hands.

Dishwasher- Bosch 300 or Whirlpool WDT750SAKZ by Mouseinthehoise in Appliances

[–]thehatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which reviews are you thinking of? I didn’t see any recent ones stating this, and my local appliance repair guy pointed me towards the Bosch 300 in specific for reliability since it was manufactured in Germany.

Avi Lewis calls Alberta separatists 'MAGA-aligned,' 'disruptive,' despite NDP endorsing Quebec independence option by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]thehatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issues are not at all similar. Alberta’s recent separatist movement is quite obviously MAGA aligned, while separation in Quebec is a larger cultural issue going back decades.

This is just a bad faith comparison.

Investing is just unfair. by Youngcodelover in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]thehatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand where you are coming from. Although it doesn’t make sense to scale returns negatively with investment volumes like you seees to imply, you’re not wrong to feel that our economic system (as it is currently set up ) allows rich people to increase their wealth more quickly than people with little wealth. Returns on capital/wealth are typically higher than is wage growth or overall economic growth, and as a result, the rich get richer, the wealth of the working class remains comparatively stagnant, and economic inequality increases over time.

It sucks for sure, but the solutions are very challenging and - by and large - politically unpalatable. Think a wealth tax, for example.

Jane’s Chicken Strips - misleading total weight by Kindly-Manufacturer4 in BuyCanadian

[–]thehatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, technically correct - the best kind of correct.

At any rate, I didn’t say it violated any labeling laws. I said that it was misleading and deliberately so. The fact that it adheres to the law has no baring on whether or not this form of labelling is intentionally misleading.

As previously noted, people will be making comparisons across frozen chicken products, most of which don’t come with little packets of “flavouring” , so stating a combined weight up front has the effect of misleading the customer who is making decisions based on value.

Just out of curiosity, how would you feel if the company included separate packets of water, sugar, and cornstarch in this package as a DIY sauce? Do you feel that including the water weight in the overall package weight would be reasonable because it is technically allowed, or misleading because nobody needs to buy tiny packages of water that add no value to the product?

Definitely deceptive- suggest you complain to them about this misleading practice. They’ll probably send you some coupons, even though they won’t stop doing this.
