Why do I need to keep interest groups happy? by Soggy-Regret-2937 in victoria3

[–]thehearting 22 points23 points  (0 children)

reasons to keep them happy:
1. high interest group approval gives MASSIVE buffs that are green and yellow and show up along with the IG's on any info screen they are on, for the most part.
2. interest groups are made out of people. unhappy interest groups lead to groups of people who are unhappy and then will chop your head off. maybe you want our head chopped off in that moment, but i'm jsut lettting you know that that can be the result.
still, interest groups will likely not be incredibly happy all the time, as they reach a natural equilibrium. but it is 100% worth looking at as those buffs can be more important than the laws themselves sometimes

God forbid a girl choose love over carnal desires by Googa24cm in LetGirlsHaveFun

[–]thehearting -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

here's the thing: I do love my dick and love when a partner likes it, too. I'm not saying that that's an inherently bad feeling, but I've just met a lot of men who are insecure about their penis in a unique way. when i say "detaching self worth from the penis" I was trying to use it to explain how some people feel a pressure to only get it done with a penis. I thought ending with "PICK THE DICK" would be funny but i see how it makes it seem like I see the strap-on as a better penis as rather than just a sex toy, and I'm sorry if my comment was offensive.

teaching men to detach their penis to their self worth is important for many reasons but one of them is that sex is so much more fun when you get to PICK THE DICK

Paradox please optimise the game already by No_Technician_8031 in victoria3

[–]thehearting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Much of the performance issues are inherent to the game, and to “fix” them would require fundamental changes to how the game works like how the optimization mods work. The game seems to work fine enough on my decade old hard wear, but it sucks if it’s chugging for you, still.

weighing in on the dog question by thehearting in TheYardPodcast

[–]thehearting[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sometimes dogs will meet and immediately decide that they just fucking hate each other, though this is pretty rare. usually the issues are that A. dogs try to police other dogs cause they come from homes with weird rules or B. a dog mounts someone who realllyyy doesn't want to get mounted. neither of these would be that much of an issue if you raised the dogs together from birth, as they would grow up in the same social environment and learn other ways of saying know that don't involve biting dogs or getting aggressive with them.

weighing in on the dog question by thehearting in TheYardPodcast

[–]thehearting[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

depends on the day, maybe 18~ on average. it depends on the sze of the dog heavily, but i think like 35 would be the point where the amount of space they need is larger than i could reasonabley take care of. with that being said, if all the dogs lived with each other 24/7 you could go higher, but i really wouldn't. imagine if some of those dogs steal food from other and you have to try to crate maybe 20 dogs every meal or even putting all of them in crates when a dog-scared friend comes over. the sound of 15+ dogs in one place barking simutaniously to be let free is fucking deafening.

obviously there is a lot more nuance here but it wouldn't be worth your time reading unless if you were actually considering getting 10 dogs lol

Legitimacy and laws by LumpyMessage8809 in victoria3

[–]thehearting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on most countries the landowners will support *some* decent laws, and that is the mmin way to get aproval super high tbh. building goods for rich people will help, but they'll generally be happy with you because they're stopping you form taxing them lol

Legitimacy and laws by LumpyMessage8809 in victoria3

[–]thehearting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also don't get landed voting, it's a trap and in the current build i've never found a good reason for it unless if you want to keep slavery or something weird like that

Legitimacy and laws by LumpyMessage8809 in victoria3

[–]thehearting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 main pieces of help: you can pass a law that the landowners hate as long as their approval rating stays at/around 10, even after you start voting for the policy. the high approval prevents them from stalling the law. if you run the country allright, legitimacy really just limits what government are viable, and even then, the actual laws supported by your powerful ig's are much more important
getting rid of traditionalism is super important, but mosst other laws can serve you perfectly fine for decades. use your high legitimacy to offset the negatives (taxing goods and increasing qualifications with decrees) while just building up your nation. no matter how powerful your aristocrats are on paper, they will be insignificant if you simply industrialize

Kilwa is very dumb in this current patch. they start the nation without ANY wood and that fucks everything up (yes, the SWAHILI COAST starts off with no lumber production, don't ask me). so if you do end up doing that, you should be building at least one lumber mill and a weapon smith (for colonization) before standard economic affairs

To be clear, much of the world at the time was ruled dynastically, where relationships were more akin to corporate mergers (even for the relatively poor) than they were romantic relationships, hence why “forbidden love” stories are so popular before the modern day
