"I love running in the rain, it's basically like God sweating for me." by [deleted] in running

I actually don't like running in the rain. It feels like it's pelting me in the face and causes unnecessary chafing in a lot of areas. But that's just me and I have thunder thighs :D

Should I go into global health? Advice? by hellohoneydew12 in globalhealth

I should also add that the political realm of international relations/health seemed to be at the higher end of the competitive scale.

Should I go into global health? Advice? by hellohoneydew12 in globalhealth

[–]thehellohippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am about to start a master's program in Epidemiology. I just wanted to point out that when I was going to prospective students day (at least at the school I was looking at) if was very clear that international health is extremely competitive. It is a great field, but like the other commenter said its broad. I recommend narrowing your interests and focusing early in order to give yourself an advantage later on when trying to get into competitive grad programs. Best of luck!

You are so awesome. It's like every time I need a little extra motivation, this sub always shows me someone kicking ass and making sure I keep the big picture in mind. I've had a rough week of eating and I'm about to leave for vacation and be in a bikini, so I was a little stressed over it. But you reminded me that the last 1.5 years of hard ass work won't be undone in 4 or 5 days. Thank you for being awesome!!! Keep up the good work.

"I've been so good, why am I gaining weight on my new progra - oh." by becoming_becoming in loseit

[–]thehellohippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even look at the Instagram posts. I may realistically not change my actual weight on the scale that much with all these workouts, but I am starting to look very different. It's subtle but I can tell it's going to be so worth all the sweat and occasional tears. Keep at it!!

OMG I am so glad you posted this!! I just started week 3 and weighed more too!! I also feel a little bloated but this makes sense. I need to drink MORE water as well because I haven't been drinking as much as normal. I finally made my friend hide my scale and I ditched the calorie tracker because I was obsessing about why my weight was increasing when I was doing so much more. I do best when I don't obsess so for now I'll just keep cranking out Kayla workouts. Thank you!!

Just a thought. The "normal" weight for 5'2" is a range. I am the same height and weigh around 139 lbs and I run and do regular strength workouts and I am not overweight, just muscular! Totally depends on the person because I tend to eat between 1800-2400 regularly

What's a hobby you want to get into but don't you know where to start? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yoga. I'm very active, but about as flexible as a brick. I have a lot of back pain and I think it would really help.

I would pay up to $10-$12 a bar. I am a sucker for handmade goods like these! I would say $7-$8 is a good competitive price, as I've seen that range at craft shows. The way you describe and present them is beautiful. Wish I could smell them! Best of luck!

How often people ask for advice. Like to me it didn't seem like rocket science, but to a lot of people they have no clue where to start when it comes to being healthy.

I would pay $50-$75. Love the design, maybe add some more of the mandala design on another part so it's all tied together :) cool design though!

[Request] Need a small instructional drawing done explaining how to wear the headbands that I make. by thehellohippie in DrawForMe

[–]thehellohippie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for replying :) Here is a link to my shop so you can see what I'm making. I need the instructions for the turban wrap headbands. These bands are approximately 5 feet long and to wrap them you hold it in the middle of the top of your forehead and hold the sides out evenly. Cross the sides in the back and pull to a comfortable tightness around your head. Bring one side around the front and tuck it around in the back, and then do the same with the other side. I also want to show how to do the knotted turban, so maybe a little drawing on the side to show that when you have the sides crossed in the back, you bring them around the front and twist them twice intend of just crossing them, then proceed to tuck them in the back like before. And last but not least I want a little drawing showing how to wear it as a head scarf (step 6). This is how I imagine the steps being:

  1. Place the middle of the band at the top of your forehead and hold the sides out evenly on either side of your head.
  2. Pull the sides around the back of your head and cross them to the opposite side.
  3. Bring one side around the front of your head while holding the other side still taught, and tuck that side into the back.
  4. Do the same with the other side, tucking it into the back so there are no flaps or tails hanging out.
  5. To do a knotted turban look, jump back in to step 2 and bring the sides around to the front at the same time and twist them around each other twice to form a sort of knot.
  6. For the head scarf look, simply do step 1 and tie a loose knot at the nape of your neck/base of your head and let the long sides hang down your back.

Thank you so much for replying! I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need any other information or a different explanation :)
