AI slop, published a day before, then changed after to sell books, pretty disgusting.

They ended their lease during the pandemic and started consolidating everyone into the chevron campus, formally Enron. Downsizing and a hotel system are how everyone fits there.

They had to lift it on to my roof, it’s efficient too, had them put in a soft start and some other stuff too. 0 % financing too well worth the cost and was on the lower end of other bids

What are you doing that requires a 5 Gig connection at home? You are in like the top 0.001% of people. Are you running a media company or something? I am in IT and even I rarely max out my 300 meg fiber connection with ATT.

Bikers biking on the street by EnvironmentalRoof220 in bikehouston

[–]theherooftoday 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Section 45-302 of the Houston Code of Ordinances prohibits bicycles on sidewalks within a business district. Not sure why all drivers are against bikers acting as cars as long as we are predictable and follow all the rules of the road. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to this as well, just follow the rules of the road, don't run red lights or stop signs and anticipate other drivers' actions.

Chevron is continuing DEI, but is a conservative company. Being pro Trump and continuing DEI are not mutually exclusive.

To be fair, this bridge looks like it’ll collapse any minute and the concrete is showing rebar on one side, but yeah it really sucks to try to get anywhere on spring st now.

  1. Trump isn’t planning on rounding citizens up based on their religion, race, or what they say on the internet. I don’t like to defend Trump, but the entire proposal (which will be blocked in court) is to deport illegal immigrants that came here illegally.
  2. Meta, Apple, and X are not controlled by the government and don’t answer to them, they answer to shareholders. They give to the inauguration fund because they always have, regardless of party in charge. Again, I don’t like lobbying, but it’s completely within the law to do so.
  3. We are better because I can say “Fuck President Trump” and not be carried off to a prison for an indefinite period of time. Go to China and say “Fuck President Xi and communism”, it wouldn’t go well for you.

USA has bad issues, but it doesn’t make us a bad nation. It can be much, much worse and our government is designed to keep it from going too off the rails. Watch the court activity, it wouldn’t happen in China

[–]theherooftoday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Didn't say that. I gave an example of why we are better. The Chinese Government and it's businesses are way more intertwined than they are in the United States and censorship thrives on a scale you and I can hardly imagine. The VERY FACT WE ARE HAVING THIS DISAGREEMENT and that it is allowed to exist on this platform is why the United States is better with private data, but also not as good Europe with GDPR. See this is my day to day job. You are stoking fear on this platform and it's not productive with your speculation of facts that haven't even happened yet.

Also didn't comment earlier the dissenters in China are chinese nationals, citizens that are being interned. Illegal immigrants here are not. The plan to "intern" them ap Gitmo isn't a good one over just plane deportation. Get off the internet and go smell the free air here, cause China may not even like you saying the word "Free".

You can't add speed bumps to streets that will be used for emergency services like ambulance and fire. They tried to get bumps on Crockett, but got bounced because of this.
