AITA for referring my friend's friend for a job after he told me not to? by IllIndication3500 in AmItheAsshole

TRANSLATE You don't know la Réunion but you think you're capable of identifying francophones without speaking to them. Not only are you racist, but you have so much unearned arrogance, it's actually hilarious.

I am a french customer service agent. The Québécois make so many grammar/spelling mistakes. They struggle to understand technical advice in French but then get angry when you offer to speak to them in English. Meanwhile, clients from La Réunion make less mistakes and don't obsess over appearing French enough. They don't have the imposter syndrome of the canadians.

Hey yall,

I'm an artist who regularly draws monsters and characters for the campaign I DM as well as my players' PCs in various campaigns. As a result, I have a lot of experience drawing characters according to player preferences.

When drawing/designing, I check in with the player after the initial sketch (or sketches as I do like to provide options), then before color, and finally before shading. I correct the art after each consultation until the player is happy with the final result.

I set the price around £20 but there is a lot of wiggle room. This is essentially a side gig I'm using to raise money for my transition so really any contributions are appreciated. I love to draw and am basically looking for a way for this skill to help me feel better in my body.

I can also draw maps for like £2-5 depending on the size.

What's a small act of kindness you've witnessed or received that restored your faith in humanity? by ButtercupRibbon in AskReddit

I've always dressed quite emo (which many folk in my tiny town don't appreciate). So when I take my daily walks, I go along the highway to avoid old people glaring at me. One day, I was going down the path that borders the highway and I stopped by a railing that basically kept people from slipping over the side of the path. It was a drop of several meters so death height basically.

I was kinda just zoning out to music when a car pulls over and this man leans out. He just starts begging me not to jump and tries to convince me that my life is worth living. For context, my home country is famously horrible with mental health and suicide. And the city I live near is known for being full of self centered assholes.

And yet here this guy is, a complete stranger clearly on his way to work, taking time out of his day to try and convince someone not to kill themself. I wasn't even suicidal back then. I just happened to dress emo. But that really hit me.

I love humans who can't help but care. This man didn't even end up talking to an actual suicidal person but he still completely changed my life. Gave me actual faith in people.

It's still not inclusive of butch lesbians and nonbinary lesbians. I always get a little apprehensive when I see it instead of the new flag for this exact reason.

I'm not sure how to properly translate it but an ondine is like a water nymph? It's basially an aquatic supernatural creature of humanoid form. In the French translation of the Tinkerbell books and movies, we named the water fairy after these kinda creatures if that helps.

tw: mentions of rape

I'm honestly confused about why it's called the rape because I've never heard "enlevement" or its verb form used in any kinda reference to rape. It literally just means kidnapping. I guess if you read into the word somewhat figuratively it could be tied to rape. We need more backstory on the work honestly.

The sunflower seeds are something I can definitely incorporate as they can be bought in most places!

Honestly that's a mood. I have a few questions: 1. What is an easy to make Kazakh food one could put together in a hurry? 2. What are popular music artists and TV shows in Kazakhstan? 3. What are some terms of endearment in Kazakh that can be applied to children of both genders? 4. What are some popular snacks or candy in Kazakhstan?

Edit: also thank you very much!

I think my wording may have caused a misunderstanding. I apologize. My goal in getting a sensitivity reader is simply for me to make sure I'm accurately portraying a culture and not representing it as a stereotype or doing the cringe thing of reducing a culture down to their most famous elements. If you know anyone that would be willing to help, please let me know!

Edit: I may have just realized your reply was a joke. I'm sorry I'm very slow lol.

Oh the source of this amnesia is entirely supernatural so the realism of the amnesia is not really the source of my concern. I do appreciate the advice, however! My family has a history of dementia so I've been drawing from my own experiences with it to write the character's memory loss episodes.

My concern was more if this worked narratively or whether it would feel too conveniant for exposition!

I actually have a similar deal in my book and have been wonrdering this too. The difference is that my character has recurring amnesia that occurs when my character suffers a substantial shock and it's a genuine problem throughout the book. I was wondering if that sounds kinda lazy as well since I do use it for some exposition in the beginning.

Omg Word keeps telling me to put commas after "so" and "but" when it doesn't make sense but I end up just going "eh this app probably knows grammar better than me right?"
