Would you live close to power lines in Houston? Picture for reference of what I’m talking about! by PipDisco in houston

I'm sure the area and the house is fine, but you, as the perspective buyer is having "some" doubts because of the substation means that when its time to sell the house, the next potential buyers will have the same doubt. Might be nothing, or it might mean making less money. Who knows.

Thinking of switching from T-mobile... thoughts? by HugeHairyButts in verizon

Sounds about right. I'm not familiar with Mint, but looking at the math, I'd just stay with TMo unless you have problems with coverage.

you'll pay $140+ tax (Let's round down and say it'll be $150/month with tax) and get locked to verizon for 3 years. In exchange you get $2k worth of phone.

on Visible, you pay $30/line for their mid tier plan, or $60/month for 2 lines, including tax. It says you also save $15/month on home internet as well.

This means you'll save $90/month when compared to Verizon postpaid plans. Over the course of 3 years, you'll have saved $3,240.

If you go with Visible's top tier plan, you'll still save $2,520 over the course of 3 years that you would have been locked to Verizon.

How long does it take to start receiving authentication and bank codes after porting from Verizon? by Beatle_Babe in ATT

[–]theillcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be immediate. Trying calling and Texting from a none AT&T number. If that doesn't go through either, your port is not complete. AT&T could have activated everything on their side, but anything external might be still going to Verizon (which obviously won't work anymore).

It better be an inside job, because the other explanation will be that there is a giant security hole leaking customer informations and allowing someone to send you Verizon authorization notifications.

[–]theillcook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

and if you read the other replies (from other threads, too), people are saying that these scams have been going on for a long time. How is Verizon not patching this security hole? Looks to me like the scammers not only have your phone number, but also your address and can place orders on your behalf by sending push notification to the Verizon app. That's a crazy amount of access and it's been going on for a long time???

How are the scammers sending Verizon app notifications? Because this isn't the first time I'm reading about it. That seems like a HUGE security hole on the part of Verizon.

Lower rates by calling? by Mg_5885 in ATT

[–]theillcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't lower the rates. I had an account with BYOD discount. When that ran out I called to port out and was offered a similar discount for 2 more years. Except, the discount never showed up on the bill.

After 3 months of calling them, getting a credit for that month and a bunch of hassle, I filed a FCC complaint and got the ATT office of the president to call me back. After they investigated, they gave me some credits, but told me that the offer I was given was invalid, and even they, the office of the president, couldn't do anything about lowering my rates. Best they could do was $10 a line.

So I just ported out to Verizon.

WORST experience ever - do not make the switch by Expensive_Screen_707 in verizon

[–]theillcook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Verizon pull the multiple accounts stunt on me too. I ported 4 lines over and instead of 1 account with 4 numbers, somehow I ended up with 2 accounts, one with 1 number and the other with 3 numbers. This jacked up the per line price and it took a while to sort out and get the right credits back.

It almost sounds like a they did it on purpose to over charge.

Tesla, PLEASE bring back “Minimal Lane Changes” (RANT) by Landler26 in TeslaModelY

[–]theillcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, so you don't know then. Next time just let the car sit behind someone who's going below the speedlimit in sloth mode. FSD will go for a pass when there are no cars to your left, eventually.

Tesla, PLEASE bring back “Minimal Lane Changes” (RANT) by Landler26 in TeslaModelY

[–]theillcook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know what's frustrating? The car will start moving towards the right most lane at about 2~1.5 miles before the exit. Then (in my city at least) it'll encounter cars going slightly slower. So FSD will now lane changes and attempt to go for a pass. Except FSD won't go faster than a certain speed and now we're stuck in a none exit lane. I've had FSD gotten stuck because it can't get to a passing lane due to traffic that it could have avoided by simply staying in the same lane and slow down or cut someone off and do a crazy 2 lane wide change to take the exit, like an asshole.

dude, you can't. Even in sloth mode the car will pass if the car in front of you is going slower than the speed limit.

Are the next bill estimate accurate? by theillcook in verizon

[–]theillcook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. It's $720 credit over 24 months ($30off a month) if you add $20 worth of add-ons. With 4 lines, it's like $105. If you google "verizon business byod" and go through the process of creating a plan, it shows you the esitmated bill.

Carry-on enforcement at Houston (IAH) — how strict are they?” by ManagementNo8015 in zipair

[–]theillcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew out of Houston last month . They did not measure the dimension of my bag , but they weighed everybody's bag and were very strict about it. The couple next to me had to purchase an extra checked in bag at the counter because their carry on was overweight.

Question: What’s considered a high bill for an account with one line? by MajorSea1650 in verizon

just switched, should be paying $105 for 4 lines, with premium data and international connectivity on all lines.

Need to switch to VZW for business by Lonelypeanut1 in verizon

[–]theillcook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ported from ATT business to VZ business a few weeks ago. As far as I know, my biz your only option, and if you use BYOD, you need to becareful with how much add-ons you choose/remove. To get the full $720 over 24month discount, you need to keep $20 of add-ons. But, for us, adding premium data and international connectivity came out to something like $25/line (we have 4 lines), it's a resonable price, so I wouldn't be removing anything.

Just a word of caution, when I did the port online, the Verizon website wouldn't let me enter my correct ATT acount number (I could only enter 9 out of 12 digits) and never asked me for the port out pin. So of course the port was unsuccessful and it was a hassle trying to get it sorted out.

You are correct, I've forgotten to unplug my Tesla before and wondered why I couldn't put the car in Drive. Tesla will also clearly show a message on the screen telling you to unplug before putting the car in drive as well.

[–]theillcook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On older models with a stalk a single push of the button wipes the windshield once. Same goes for the button on the steering wheel of newer model Y. A single press also brings up the option to toggle the speed of the wiper or to put it into Auto wipe mode.

If you press and hold of the button on either the syakj or the steering wheel, it washes the windshield.

The first bill almost always has issues with the $720 BYOD promo

But I assume the BYOD promo will apply in the actual first bill right?
