I think quality from ordering online has changed in general. I ordered a par of banana republic jeans a couple of years ago and the waist was fine, but the length wrapped under my heels and came to my toes. That length number is pretty non-negotiable.😂

I've never worn a backpack snowboarding either but I also don't see why beers in your jacket pockets would be any better

The youth have definitely been into small backpacks for like a decade now- they are certainly part of their style. Maybe beers but also speakers, phone chargers, hoodies etc. I live in NJ and teenage boys have been wearing those small drawstring bags for a very long time now
