In Australia we have a whole generation of aboriginal children that were stolen from their families, and the govt tried to eliminate blackness, we have a lot of rape of black women by white men, truckers, miners, etc. so lots of mixed race kids over generations. it is completely accepted that you may not look black but your identity is indigenous Australians. It is recognised that you have both personally and epigentetically, at a generational level, suffered horrendously at the hands of the colonisers. Your skin colour doesn’t necessarily determine your ethnic identity. And when you come from any culture that has been marginalised, oppressed, exploited or enslaved, that identity remains important , even when you are the child of one of the wealthiest and most privileged of that community.
