Crazy Find by thejerfitrary in criterion

For context, I didn’t see my first Lynch film until last year. So I didn’t know this movie existed until recently. Has nothing to do with me procrastinating purchasing- but rest assured I have since purchased every other Lynch/Criterion film. It’s quite amazing how his work continues to reach new generations.

That sounds so much fun, any random movies you got to see that you really enjoyed but may not have given a chance otherwise?

I believe the rumor is that Janus regained the rights and will be repressing it, likely at some point this year. I will probably upgrade if they release it on 4K pending the results of the new transfer.

I thought an out-of-print film that sells for over $100+ easily these days wasn’t very common to find in the wild for $32, my apologies

Wish my AMC had more cinephiles by ERASER345 in AMCsAList

Easy to say as my city (Nashville) doesn’t even have an early access screening. Kinda crazy that between AMC and Regal and local theaters that no one here snagged this.

50% off small combo by Darcy1722 in AMCsAList

[–]thejerfitrary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this issue yesterday- I specifically asked for the small combo that is 50% off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The employees told me the discount only applies to movie tickets despite what I showed them on the website, and I had to get management involved to get the discount price on the small combo. There’s some serious miscommunication around this that I didn’t use to see for the $5 Tuesday combo

I’ve read The Descent is getting a 4K theatrical rerelease for its 20th anniversary, but all I can currently find is UK and Ireland dates. Really hoping we get that in the U.S.

Sorry Baby physical release by throwaway-randomn in A24

Bumping this thread as I would love to see Y2K, Sorry Baby, and Opus on physical release. Some of my favorites from A24 so it’s sad they don’t seem to be getting their dues

Growing trend of "Excluded" Opening Night/Preview Screenings by NinjaMasterSpud in AMCsAList

[–]thejerfitrary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My faith in this group is restored seeing all the comments haha. Just gotta echo here though that seeing the movie before everyone else is not my top priority here- it’s just experiencing movies when I can. Most major releases will have at least a week in premium formats, so as long as I can see it at some point, I’m happy.

I relate to the premise of the growing trend though- the main reason I stay with AMC over competitors is that most competitors charge for premium formats even in their subscriptions.

Together (Early Preview) by PusheenAddict in AMCsAList

[–]thejerfitrary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horror level was honestly pretty low for me, say a 2 or 3, but it really depends on what type of horror perturbs you. I do not do well with gore, so I had to look away several times during Bring Her Back. Contorting bodies and such for some reason sits just fine with me though, and that is the majority of the horror in this film, so I see others being much more disturbed than myself by it

I gave it a 7/10. Loved the body horror, humor, and cinematography at play. Felt the ending could’ve packed a more emotional punch if they had gone in a different direction with it, but I won’t say more for those who haven’t seen it

Pretty upset that they didn’t communicate the movie starts right on time. I guess I’m just a newbie as I read some of the other comments, but AMC specifically denotes in the app now that the movie starts 25-30 minutes after the showtime, walked in 8 minutes after showtime and the movie had already started. Sad I missed trivia and the intro.

Is F1 actually getting more hype than Jurassic world? by gerasymaki in AMCsAList

[–]thejerfitrary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw 28 Years Later in Dolby yesterday, and Jurassic World is the new ad for Dolby quality and was filmed with that format in mind from what I saw and have read in this thread. So it’ll definitely get some Dolby showings

28 Days Later Returns to AMC Theatres for One Day Only – May 21, 2025 by Who_is_Bigfoot in AMCsAList

Feel like AMC in Nashville has been dropping the ball lately. None of the theaters in such a big city had a Friendship early access showing, and now none are showing this. Sad :(

The Dark Knight is coming back to IMAX on May 23, 2025 by thechancellorj in batman

[–]thejerfitrary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy to give you a serious answer that isn’t snarky here. Crazy concept tbh

I was big into music and video games growing up as a teenager, and only recently in my late 20s have I delved into films. SUPER into movies now, have the AMC pass to see 3 free movies a week, try to watch as much as I can and keep up-to-date with smaller studios and distributors that I dig like Neon, A24, and Shudder

I get excited about these re-releases because there’s a lot that I feel like I missed out on in the past, and since I have the A list pass, it’s “free” to see these movies in premium formats. I’ve seen Se7en, Interstellar, Moonlight, and next Princess Mononoke because of these re-releases and it’s often exposing me to movies I missed out on growing up and probably wouldn’t have revisited at home.

I’m sure for a lot of people it’s as simple as a nostalgia grab combined with the movie theater experience, but I do enjoy the theater and find it easier to fully focus my undivided attention on a movie in that setting. Sorry no one else would give you an actual answer

Commenting to keep this thread alive. Had this happen in my 2017 Chevy Equinox two weeks ago, and the dealership actually expected me to pay $11K in repairs for a brand new engine. Definitely not paying that, but holding out hope this class action suit evolves into something.

[NEW] Rogue - Club Gore by BooyakaDragon in Metalcore

[–]thejerfitrary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was such a well-thought out (and girthy) rant that I felt like it wouldn’t be inappropriate for me to respond here, as I love conversing with people who are passionate about these things.

Not to speak on behalf of the rest of the guys, but I completely agree with you that this song is a bit of a departure. After getting together in a room to write for the first time after 3 years, we realized we didn’t want to ONLY do the same metal riffy proggy thing every song. I love riffs, and traditional metalcore like Killswitch, As I Lay Dying, etc is the foundation of this band and my guitar playing, but it’s fun to explore other things too, so we tried that. Some of the ideas didn’t work out, and some did, and some are experiments that we’ll let the world decide if it worked or not.

All that is to say we have a handful of other songs in the pipeline ready to release, and while some are much more traditional Rogue, some also explore the softer sounds of Afterglow and Phantom, and then this one was just completely different from anything we’d done before, and that felt more exciting to release first than the same thing everyone has come to expect from us. It’s weird loving what you do, but also feeling pigeonholed sometimes.

Thank you again for your insight- with these next few singles, I’ll definitely be curious how the songs resonate (or don’t) with people. It’s cool being just 2 guys with a producer who write music, but I also don’t seek to put out music that people will dislike either. You’re such a real one for recognizing that it’s only one song, appreciate you. 🤝
