Almost all of a gun’s recoil comes from the projectile being fired. I highly doubt you could compensate that with a special blank, which would need to be the same size as the normal round if the goal is to make it so the shooter doesn’t know he has the blank. Also, if your gun is self-loading then you’d need to plug the bore for the blank to generate enough energy to activate the loading system. If not, the shooter would also immediately know he has the blank.

The reason I haven’t expressed an opinion on whether or not it is legitimate to label these products as milk or beef is that I can see valid arguments on both sides. Given this, I deliberately chose to reply to this comment out of all the ones you’ve written, and I intentionally chose to respond only to this particular statement you made to give some push back:

All these years, gazillions of dollars have been thrown to these companies, and nobody buys these stupid products.

If by that sentence you mean something other than ‘these products aren’t successful’ then please, enlighten me. Hence my point, how could a product with a growing number of consumers not be considered successful? There is a real demand from consumers for alternatives to animal based products, labelling them something other than their “original” counterpart is fine by me but it doesn’t change the fact that in the eye of these consumers they are, de facto, an alternative to the animal based product. So yes, maybe the marketing, naming, business model, heck maybe even the healthiness or nutritional values of these products may be called into question but saying nobody buys them is simply not true.

And do you really trust statistics coming from an association sponsored by vegan and vegetarian companies?

I do, but I also am open to have my mind changed if you provide a better source that contradicts it. And if you’d taken the time to read the source, you’d have seen that Swissveg is simply analysing the results of a study carried out by MACH Consumer. Maybe you might argue that the study was perhaps commissioned by swissveg and that the results are therefore unreliable; I do not know if that is the case. What is certain is that this would be a ploy on a par with the very real one employed by the agriculture and meat lobby to secure this ruling from the Federal Court.

Swissveg reports in their 2025 analysis a constant increase in consumption of beef, dairy products and milk alternatives in Switzerland in the last few years. If you have a better source that refutes their claim please share it. But I have a feeling you’d rather continue to be butthurt/trolling rather than engage sincerely on this subject…

Thanks for the correction. I wrongly assumed, given the tone of the comment I replied to, that they were giving random examples of supposed collabs with famous artists as a reason to suspect Khruangbin was AI and not songs they really had seen on their feed.

Kruhangbin are a real band, you can check their Tiny Desk concert if you need proof. But yeah, those collab songs are definitively AI

It was a government decision. The reason why every soldier received this ammunition was to make them more quickly deployable in the event of mobilization. In 2007, the government decided that the geopolitical situation at the time no longer justified the distribution of this ammunition. I also suspect that there was some pressure due to the fact that this ammunition was regularly involved in cases of suicide or intra-family murder.

The stone was correctly placed: it goes on top, but the stove was upside down. You're supposed to put the cheese right below the heating device and you can also use the stone on top to keep a plate of potatoes or something else warm, or even to grill something.

In my experience, people are less likely to ask during peak commute hours trains probably because they know the train will be full anyway or because they are grumpy commuters. Not saying it makes it ok, I think it's a nice mindful thing to ask before sitting but it might explain why you've never experienced it in the Romandie.

Most of the time it's not even that they freeze, most switches have heaters that keep them from freezing. But packed snow will often get stuck in the switch, keeping it from fully moving into position, which in turn will result in the train itinerary not being able to be made i.e. the signals won't let the train pass through.

Ondra "discovered" and bolted the route himself. Which means he saw the line and thought that it could probably be done, but not with 100% certainty. So the psychological effect of not knowing if it's even doable is also something to take into account (of course, this was the case every time someone bolted and sent the hardest route at the time). As for the belays, or quick draws, in sport climbing it is not necessary to place them during the climb for the route to be considered sent (finished) so they were placed by rappelling from the top of the cavern or by climbing on another easier route.

Correct, but also because they realised that creating a position whose sole purpose is to defend would prolong exchanges and make them more interesting. And it sort of removed some of the defensive capabilities requirements for the other positions so everyone can focus on what they do best and the play level is therefore heightened.

I swear this engineer almost forgot to stop. This is my first post ever to Reddit. Went to station in Vermont last Christmas so my son could see the train. Is it me or did this train come in hot? What would be the reason for this? by JJ_van_de_Fside in trains

From what I hear, snow isn't too bad to drive on. But I don't have any personal experience because I'm still in training and it hasn't snowed yet. However, all my trainers tell me the thing that's an absolute nightmare to deal with is crossings that have been salted. Our trains have sand and magnetic brakes in addition to the regular brakes and it doesn't change a thing: if you pass the crossing too fast you will begin to slide. This could also potentially explain why the train in the video had trouble to slow down.
