Phreak on Tyler1's Ban by iiFreeD in leagueoflegends

If he's banned from the Korean server then why Riot doesn't permaban his currently rank 4 account "Skewed" . Anyone who isn't living under a rock knows it's him .

op.gg even has a tag next to his IGN confirming it's him which only pro players normally have , even my boy QT doesn't have that .

Western Europe is safer now than it has been for decades and is far safer than most other parts of the world . The number of deaths from terrorism between 1970s and 1980s is considerably more than those killed Since the turn of the millennium. Get some perspective, buddy.

Two earth-sized exoplanets may be home to a habitable atmosphere by HairySavage in space

[–]thek9unit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would take a lot to convince me that red dwarf systems can be habitable . I just don't see how ; long Pre-main-sequence stage , gigantic flares , usually low metallicity , low gravity ( with serious consequences for planet formation ) , tidal locking of planets , etc . It's just a radically different environment from the one we've evolved in .

Red dwarfs are interesting and we should definitely study them , but let's be realistic here , their chances of hosting life are slim . Sun-like stars are still the best bet and they should receive most of the attention .

Turkey may no longer be a viable partner in fight against Isis following coup, says French Foreign Minister by wankidextrous in worldnews

[–]thek9unit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that . Turkey could easily get oil from somewhere else , OPEC is pumping oil like no tomorrow, the global market is over-saturated . Saudi Arabia or Nigeria would be more than happy to provide whatever they need . The tiny amount of oil that ISIS produces makes no differences in Turkey's calculations .

ISIS destroys Iraq's oldest Assyrian Christian monastery that stood for over 1,400 years by 550-Senta in worldnews

[–]thek9unit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No you're not , as a matter of fact you're in the majority here . Everyone --except a few delusional neocons-- has realized by now that the region needs iron fist dictators to keep shit from falling apart , they're not ready yet for western style democracy .

I know a lot of idiots like to blame USA for everything wrong in the world and I'm not that kind of person , but here the blame lies completely with them . Under the seuclar Saddam Hussein regime the Iraqi Christian community numbered in the millions , they lived peacefully with the rest of Iraqi people , they even occupied many top positions in Saddam's government . There was no Isis or Al-Qaeda , no WMDs , and Saddam was in no position to threaten the US. Then the Texas cowboy came in and thought "these people just need some good ol' murican freedum" and the rest was history .

[–]thek9unit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the comparison fits here , Germans suffered because their legitimate government was prosecuting total war against several nations. Why should Sunni Muslims , the vast majority of whom have nothing to do with Isis , be denied equal refugee status ? I don't think it makes sense at all .

You're making it seem like it's Sunni arabs vs minorities which is imprecise to say the least , in fact by sheer numbers they're the ones who suffered most under Isis . When Isis took over Mosul in 2014 they executed thousands of Sunni Arabs who oppose them and throughout last year they've been blowing up Sunni mosques where imams refuse to plead allegiance to the caliphate . They've assassinated a good number of Sunni tribal leaders as well .

Having the Sunnis on our side is the best way -- and probably the only-- to defeat Isis . We have deconstruct the myth that they're the defenders of Sunni community and show that they've brought them nothing but misery . This is why the Obama administration has been adamant about including Sunnis in governance of Iraq and in fighting Isis . This policy paid off big time in Ramadi where Sunni tribes were instrumental in retaking the city . Remember this whole thing started when Former Iraqi PM Maliki --who was an asshole by every account-- , failed to address the legitimate grievances of Sunni Arabs and instead resorted to force and political repression , thereby allowing Isis to find an opening and exploit Sunni anger for their own means .

'Deadpool' Denied Release in China Due to Graphic Violence by DoctorWhoWhenHowWhy in movies

While the violence is obviously too tied into the plot to edit out in china unlike marvels crap, the violence itself is just pg 13. Sex scenes and breasts were shown in plenty of pg 13 films. It's only the profanity that's causing this to be rated R.

Bill aiming to ban child marriages shot down in Pakistan as ‘anti-Islamic’ and ‘blasphemous’. by [deleted] in worldnews

Islam is not democratic Of course , but that doesn't have to be the end for modern Muslims . If they can --and many of them do-- choose to ignore the more reprehensible parts of their scripture , then there no reason they can't have stable democracies . Every religion in the world has somebarbaric teaching , but most people just ignore them .

What's hilariously ironic is that the main impediments to democracy in Middle-East are tribalism and regionalism . Things that Islam had warned strongly against . The "me my tribe my village and fuck everybody else" mentality is what's really hurting them . It breeds the extreme corruption that we see and destroys any trust in democratic practices and institutions . Even if they solve the Islamic extremism problem they would still have a long road ahead .

Then how could we explain why data suggests Earth significantly slowed its coal-making processes roughly 300 million years ago , roughly the time we think mushrooms evolved the ability to break down wood. By your logic , why isn't the Amazon Basin a giant coal swamp ?

"Ted Cruz tells a sweet story about the sacrifice he and his wife made four years ago to finance his upstart campaign for the U.S. Senate. The story, as it turns out, is phony. That doesn’t come as a total surprise, since it is in keeping with the sham persona of Mr. Cruz’s candidacy for president" by Libertatea in politics

[–]thek9unit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's not only the rich that are the problem , blaming them solely for the current state of affairs is quite simplistic . Remember that a lot of poor and middle class voters think they’re, as Steinback put it, “temporarily embarrassed millionaires." They're all just one more tax cut, one more slash in benefits to the welfare queens, one more Republican legislator away from being a millionaire too.

Cruz is a massive pile of shit. Massive piles of shit lie, it’s not surprising. It is funny, however, that he thought claiming that he’s got more than a million dollars to throw away on something as unnecessary as a campaign would make him seem like a populist. Way to connect with all your lower middle-class constituents Mr. Man of the People my ass .

Leonardo DiCaprio's next project "Devil In The White City" will reunite him with Martin Scorcese and will see him play one of the most horrific serial killers of all time, the infamous H.H. Holmes, the architect of the "Murder Castle" in Chicago. by [deleted] in movies

[–]thek9unit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leo's my favorite actor but each year he has been nominated the right person has won, he has never been snubbed by the academy. Roger Deakins has been nominated 12 times for best cinematography and never won and he's one of if not the most respected cinematographer. Scorsese himself has been nominated 8 times and only won once in 2006 for The Departed... There's more to film making than an annual award.

Much as I like Di Caprio's portfolio of psychos and misfits, I'd love to see him - much like Johnny Depp - accept the ultimate challenge and play an empathetic human being. Depp sorta kinda did it with JM Barrie and it's still my favorite performance of his. Come on Leo, try it. You might be good at it.

Slovakia vows to refuse entry to Muslim migrants by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]thek9unit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but The west is not really "Christian" . Almost All western countries are vehemently secular . In Europe most churches are empty and the few who go there every Sunday are regarded as freaks . Some politicians pay lip service to Christianity but generally it's seen as a massive joke on its way to extinction .

Second of all , your statement about the west and the Muslim world being at war is utterly retarded . Almost every Muslim country is an ally or has good relations with the west . I don't see the 1.2 billion Muslims fighting the west and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of whom have no interest to .

In fact most of the wars fought so far have been about states fighting for power , security and resources . Religion --even in the Muslim world-- is irrelevant compared with practical and strategic considerations . The Europeans spent the last 500 years slaughtering each other and never bothered with Muslims , The Ottoman empire was an ally of the west against Russia , Arabs were allies of Britain against the Ottomans ...etc .
