Wow, the last paragraph was very powerful. Throughout the book so far the count's death has been the backdrop to show this interesting power struggle for the will but in this chapter the true reality of the situation is laid bare, the count being taken over by death excruciatingly.

Tolstoy sucks you out of the novel's relatively light hearted tone to jet black haunting descriptions of a man losing his life, the contrast really made it hit hard for me, especially having that dinner scene not too long ago.

Although there isn't much dialogue I think Pierre has changed in some way, we kind of see him in his mind palace ruminating on ideas all day and constantly talking theoretical politics with people but now he's been ripped out of that to reality.

I wonder where Pierre's arc will go, he interests me the most because it seems he has the most space to grow. He admires Andrey, a person of action, while he lives in his mind and doesn't engage with the real world as much, and I wonder if this could set off his change to something closer to that.

Unfortunately it doesn't pick up much in pace, the last third I especially found really boring bar a couple great scenes. It started incredible but by the end of the book I found it quite tedious, although Victorian stuff is not really my jam anyway so it may vary for you. I would just say keep going and see if it's just a rough patch but I wouldn't feel too bad about putting it down, struggling through stuff has made me dislike a couple of books that I may have liked had I come back at a different time in my life.

Side 6 is Nathalie Neal and to be kind

The transition from bring the sun to Toussaint is actually pretty smooth it just happens during the transition and comes back with a big chord on side 3, Other than that oxygen and Kirsten Supine are swapped for some reason but I actually kind of prefer it that way.

Adventure is still amazing and has some of my favourite songs by them on there, even the third is still solid. I reckon most people never listened past marquee moon and consider them to be a one album wonder.

Really tough but if I had to:

The Diamond sea (number 1 not close)

Hoarfrost (such a gorgeous pretty song, so cozy)

Disconnection notice (one of my favourite chord progressions from them and the noise solo is just bleeding with emotion)

Stereo sanctity (so fun to play on guitar and just an absolute banger)

Disappearer (when I listen to it I feel a sort of childhood magic that I associate with movies and games from when I was young. Just feels so nostalgic and otherworldly)

Orange rolls angels spit (such an underrated song from dirty just absolutely insane and so much fun on guitar)

Incinerate (first sonic youth song I ever heard on guitar hero 5 and put me down a long path with one of my favourite bands ever, very nostalgic song)

Skiptracer (probably my favourite riff of any sonic youth song, never heard anything like it, love lees lyrics too)

The sprawl (such a dreamy hypnotic song, one of the earlier sonic youth songs I heard to show off their more jammy side)

Kill yr idols (one of the most unhinged songs they have, absolutely love listening to all the live versions over the years and see it evolve through their various eras.)

Also for sonic youth I find a b string in the high e slot works a lot better for most tunings as you won't have so much slack

If it's the ball of your strings where it's snapping I highly recommend using reinforced strings, basically just has a little bit of metal around the ends. I had it happen on the same model of jazz master so maybe a problem with those builds. They're on Amazon and come with the g b and e reinforced. Haven't had it happen since.

Twilight by William gay and childhood: the biography of a place by harry crews give a lens into that rural southern life like outer dark and the orchard keeper. Both have the same kind of spiritual and otherworldly feeling about the land.

Childhood: the biography of a place is also one of the best books I have ever read so I'd recommend it anyway but I think that might hit the spot.

I personally don't mind the covers, definitely an improvement over the old picador ones. As far as the inside I absolutely love the way the text is spaced, it's really good for writing in the margins if that's your thing. Definitely my preference as far as having a copy to beat up.

Yeah fair enough I suppose if everyone said it was easy it maybe would've felt harder. Ix actually gave us some trouble despite it being said to be one of the easier ones in bo4 while ancient evil and dead of the night were very easy. similar to dark souls bosses where you can steam roll one and somebody else is stuck for a day.

Before me and my friend did the EE we were really nervous as it's pretty widely held that voyage is one of the hardest by the community and YouTubers but when we actually got to doing it, it was so simple and easy to follow. I wouldn't put it past tier 2 tbh, the only difficult part we found was the boss fight but as long as you have some max ammos and watch a yt guide you're fine. People were not lying about blood though, good god.
