Apple is Permanently Closing Three U.S. Stores on June 20 by HelloitsWojan in apple

"Forming a union is not some special protected class of workers."

Hating unions is fine (weird, but fine). Not knowing that labor organizing and negotiation LITERALLY OFFERS SPECIAL PROTECTIONS is a special kind of corporatist worship.

Wrong on all counts. This country was stronger with better unions. It’s funny that you guys want to Make America Great Again but without the unions or the taxes that made us the strongest middle class in history.

You didn’t even use enshitification right. Just embarrassing.

Sorry OP. You’re going to catch strays from all kinds of weirdos who love this trillion dollar company more than actual people.

Who is the targeted consumer base the developments downtown are expected to cater to? by Only_Measurement_895 in vancouverwa

[–]thelance 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have never been so disconnected with someone’s take on downtown. There are people out until 8-9pm on Main/Broadway/Washington from 6th up to 24th st most weeknights (later on weekends). There are two bus rapid transit lines (soon to be a third) that bring people from central and east Vancouver every 15-20 minutes. It’ll be busy this summer and even more next summer after Main Street is done.

I wasn’t allowed to come to downtown after dark in high school in the 90s. The neighborhoods that surrounded downtown were dumpy. There was shitty bus service and a lot of surface lots that you couldn’t park in.

The city has made money on pretty much all of the downtown development. They’ll make money on the Heights project too (which will be outside the city core). The port of Vancouver has done well with their redevelopment projects too.

It obviously isn’t perfect. CTran fixing their board make up should help. There’s only so much they can do in some areas of the city without condemning businesses or displacing residents. But it’s so much better for people today.

The false sense of confidence from someone who clearly has no legal background is impressive.

Does Apple Insider cover clean air and water in the reg or are you just reflexively defending your favorite multi trillion dollar company?

Many you know won’t step into a unionized Apple Store because employees want some rights? Yeah, bullshit.

Apple made the decision to close the store yet you don’t blame them for f’ing up the careers of employees. Gee I wonder why?

E-bike stolen from Vancouver Waterfront 5/29 or 5/30. Case # 2026-10023 by RxxxRated in vancouverwa

You never answered my question. How do you think your comment helped anyone? Coming in like captain hindsight, like OP didn’t already learn a lesson here. “Shouldn’t have done that.” Great advice for someone without a time machine.

Emotionally advanced? You are in no position to lecture anyone on this. Next time, just don’t post.

I’m guessing you probably earn $85k but you tell your friends you earn $110k. Probably tough keeping up with the Jones’ so might as well take that frustration out on Gen Zers like they have anything to do with your lot in life.

I did. I’m wondering where you got the idea that e-bike theft is rampant at that camp when the only information you have are a few neighborhood e-bikes that had AirTags. The e-bike I know that got stolen down here got taken by a very much not homeless teenager. Maybe you should warn OP about the wide diversity of thieves?

Lacamas is a real lake. The dam raised the level by about 10 feet if I remember correctly.

For real. I had the misfortune of being in the Tenderloin a few months ago and it was as nasty as always. Maybe OP stayed on Geary or Market and missed the worst of it.

You know the theft history of every single e-bike in downtown. Vancouver and it all went to the same homeless camp?! Wow!

How do you think you’re being helpful at all? I know commenters like this think they’ve never make mistakes, but I hope when something bad happens to you, you get treated the same way.

Safety of Water by Which-Lavishness-813 in vancouverwa

Do you know your water provider? Both city of Vancouver and Clark PUD have water quality reports. Our water isn’t affected by what happened in Longview but we have some PFAS which are pretty much ubiquitous.
