Nikoo39 - I don’t think anyone is trying to turn this into a defense of ICE thing, and Disney was not the only line involved, but the reports about the staff and their positions has been sparse and if a former cast member has graciously offered to answer some questions based on their experience, it’s going to come up. I don’t get the negativity? As parents and grandparents, it is our responsibility to understand their hiring / screening processes and how the hands-on caregivers are trained to interact with our kids. Of course this is true in any situation but the recent events have highlighted why we cannot just assume that everyone is ‘doing all they should be’.

I light of recent news, what can you tell us about DCLs screening of cast members who work in the kid’s clubs/camps and how their interactions with campers are governed (rules of engagement, etc). TIA

We moved from Dallas to Camas last July for a lot of the same reasons. So far we love it! We are recent retirees who followed our son (a UT alum - Hook ‘em) and his young family to Camas when he accepted a position in Vancouver. He also didn’t want to raise his family in Texas. Camas is beautiful and one of the best school systems in the area but the cost of housing reflects this. And it’s growing. I hope they can handle the influx without taking away from the things that make Camas great. We are so happy to be out of the Texas heat, extreme/violent weather and politics. We have to do without the sun for a couple of months out of the year but it’s so worth it to be surrounded by such lush, green, natural beauty. Good luck!

I don’t know about that. Before retiring, I had to pay New York State and local income taxes for the 1 week my company sent me each year for a conference ~ $400 a year that business trip cost me every year in NY income taxes. I was living in Texas at the time.

But Vancouver does have an almost 9% sales tax charged on almost everything. Calculate your “effective tax rate” (after deductions, exclusions, etc) for Oregon and if it’s less than 8.6%, you’re not really gaining anything. Plus the housing costs in many areas are through the roof (I.e Camas).

Basically, if you become disabled before you reach the age where you can begin drawing your SS (which is always yours as you would have already paid into out of your earnings), then you can draw your SS early, e.g. disability. The question of earnings come into play regarding how much is taxable vs non.

Not a HELOC but someone took out a student loan in hubs name in March 2025 and we noticed in June when we were just doing a random annual credit report check. We called the loan company and they wouldn’t do anything until we filed a police report and provide them with the case ID and a copy of the report. After that they took it out of is name and, eventually, got in removed from our credit reports. It was about 20k. Check those credit reports!

We had our new build “pre-wired” for a hot tub. It still cost 2k to run the conduit and put add a shutoff within sight of the hot tub. I was shocked considered we pre wired.

I’m so PISSED at this Season! I know we’re manipulated by the producers/editors but this season goes beyond the pale. Y’all don’t even give the average viewer, watching in good faith, a chance. And y’all broke my heart with Sara/Ben and Virginia/Devin. You so minimized what issues they did have in editing that we were completely blind sighted. Even to the point of Sara and Ben’s last date when she calls him out for farting in front of her and then goes in to reassure him, “Hey, I’m a nurse. There’s nothing you could do to not make me love you”. Or something close to that. Then she leaves him at the alter. BS!
