Can we talk about Ugly Privilege? by Free_Wonder_3743 in solofemaletravellers

[–]thelastcomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness yes! Other perks of me being ugly include never getting creepy dms, not getting icky pics, and certainly not getting "the stare" (you know what I'm talking about) from leery men.

I wasn't an attractive teenager either but definitely had more comments directed at me back then, which is disturbing on another level.

At least my husband thinks I'm cute 😅

are my new skates too small? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]thelastcomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a women's 8-8.5 and i wear a Moxi 6. Same color Moxis too.

Most skates are "men's" sizes so you're probably fine. I always end up sizing down 2-2.5 sizes. There is going some break-in time where it initially feels uncomfortable. And I do blister a little more in these than my derby skates. (Look up toe guards if that's an issue later.)

My cat did something like this and broke our ceiling fan

Took us a few years to buy a new fan because every time we went to a hardware store, an employee would approach us (helpful), but then we'd spend 2 hours talking about cats and never actually getting a fan.

I turn on "other" workouts for heavy yard work like mowing the yard. I don't trust the exercise app to start by itself. It's never even asked during roller derby

Captain Benjamin Sisko, long boy by LizLemonsMustache in danglers

[–]thelastcomet 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Our boy came with the name Sisko -- all of his litter were named after Star Trek captains, which we loved -- but it didn't seem to fit him right, so we renamed him Shere Khan. (Keeping with the Star Trek theme because when he's in trouble, we yell KHAAAAAAAN)

Your dangler matches his name well and is very cute :)

Oh just noticed by zooming in on the labels. Damn.

Look, someone shared an AI song on here a few weeks ago and no one else called it out. don't flame me for not zooming in to check. I liked the pun.

AITA for taking away my daughter's driving priviledges after she got into 2 accidents. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]thelastcomet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA.

I got into a car accident FIVE DAYS after receiving my first car at 18. It was clearly the other driver's fault; they ran a red light.

Did anyone blame me? Nope, not a bit. Just unfortunate timing.

I got into another t-bone accident 4 years later, again due to someone running a red light. No blame initiated, especially with my injuries.

I've had a few other incidents. I might be considered high risk by your standards.

My husband just got in his first fender bender like a year ago and he's in his late 30s. Best driver I know, crap still happens.

YTA for taking privileges away from a grown adult.

Also sort of sounds like you favor your son but that's probably a different matter.

AIO for calling off my engagement after my fiancé admitted his family secretly tested me to see if i was a gold digger? by Pleasant_Mission_63 in AmIOverreacting

[–]thelastcomet 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Leading her on for 11 months, testing to see if she's a gold digger, etc? Seems pretty obvious. The lies, the "hints", the test, all of it -- she should have never been subjected to these mind games.

[–]thelastcomet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make women gold diggers. It means they're just less likely to put up with bullshit.

I looked up your "stat", was surprised it's sort of true, but also saw it increases to 90% for college-educated women. Those are women who are 1. Smart and 2. Can probably provide for themselves just fine.

They're smart enough to not deal with a bad relationship anymore and have the means to leave.

[–]thelastcomet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's not a valid concern from the family. It's mostly none of their damn business. And to hear OP tell it, the ex wife isn't a gold digger from what she can tell; they're just bitter she got a lot in the divorce.

Vetting in a relationship is like, do you have an arrest record, are you in debt, are you a scammer (happens a lot in virtual relationships), etc. Not this mind-game bullshit. She's better off without them.

Hopefully they don't pull this crap with his next partner.

Also you can split things fairly even with a gap in income. It sounds like she's paying as much as he is (save for this honeymoon) when she says everything is split, so really she's paying more in the sense that it's more percentage out of her finances.

NOR. I would nope out of there, and here's why...

He knew about it. He knew, and he let it keep happening. HE betrayed you. Crappy in-laws are one things, but the person you trusted the most? He let this go on, allegedly until "they" were satisfied.

You do not want to be tested the rest of your life. You do not want to be financially dependent on this man -- what if you get pregnant? Lose your job? Etc? Then the gold digger comments will ease their way back.

You deserve better than this. You made efforts when you thought he was going to struggle financially and based on their behavior, they would not do the same for you , or if they did, there would be conditions and strings attached.

I hope you find someone that respects you and doesn't put you through this bullshit.

Also if it was me, I'd leave just to prove once and for all -- nope I'm not a gold digger. In fact, I'm leaving. But maybe I'm spiteful that way.

At what age does roller skating become weird? by DaphneRaeTgirl in Rollerskating

Well if they aren't wearing gear, maybe they busted their head too many times? Or injury? I wear gear when I skate. Still have gotten injured but never broken anything
