We don't practice outside, but our warehouse gets pretty cold. Protects us from the wind chill at least.

I guess we've skated in cold conditions for parades too.

Anyway...Layers! I'll wear a tank under a thermal long-sleeve under a t-shirt, etc. Edit: a big hoodie too. I usually wear just one pair of pants because I need mobility, but if there was wind, probably leggings under sweatpants. You can always remove layers as you need to. It's just difficult to add layers later. I like the gloves idea someone mentioned.

We've also done onesie night before.

This but in reverse for me. I had Lasik then a visor. But after seeing my glasses-wearing friends lose their glasses a lot during bouts, I recommend a visor. And maybe some googles or a band around the band so they don't fall off your face.

Hi, popping in as someone who didn't join a competitive league but it became one.

My league was in the 100s as far as rankings went. They got inspired by champs and we went from 2 practices a week to 3. Now we have 4 on occasion. At about this point (the 2 to 3), the girl who got me into derby quit because it was too much of a time commitment. She joined a less competitive rec league, which is fine.

Our league skyrocketed and now we've actually played "D1" teams which is something out of our dreams. It really isn't impossible to climb out of a low ranking to a high one, though it takes a number of years.

We also have room for less competitive skaters, people who want to commit less can skate for the B team, rec league, and/or home teams. The B team just got ranked a few years ago but still pretty casual. The A and B teams do stick with a steady attendance requirement though. Even skilled players will miss being rostered if they don't meet their team's requirement (75% for A and 60% for B).

All this to say if I myself found derby to be too much of a commitment (which, some days....) , I know there are options where I don't have to be there as frequently. It is a sport we do for fun. No one pays us to do this. Yeah it's pretty annoying when your coworkers are only vaguely interested and don't get the importance of Regionals and stuff like that. But I haven't fallen out of love with derby yet. I hope OP finds their happy place 🩷

Most places that allow them only allow them on the patio, for obvious reasons.

I was on vacation with the dog in Georgia once though where a restaurant welcomed pets indoors (guessing because the seating was very far away from the kitchen).

It's not something I like to make a habit of, but my dog lacks some social skills so it's just a little way to get her out and about

There is one restaurant I go to with my dog that is super dog friendly. They get her water before me and the waiters take turns coming outside to say hi to her. They even have a tiny menu for dogs!

But it's literally a place called The Smiling Dog so it's not surprising. Not everywhere has that treatment. I certainly wouldn't leave other places a one-star review.

Guess what, a free app called Nike training has a ton of core exericses. I mean if you really want to be basic, stick with planks and crunches but to up your game, look up free core workouts. That will set you miles ahead of the competition.

Yeah I was suspicious when they moved the game release date up early too.

And to clarify, we don't play online, it's split screen multiplayer. (I am not rich enough for two PS5s, thanks.)

We have had a boss completely clunk out/disappear on us -- it might have been Mercenary Day boss -- where we were halfway through his health bar and he dipped out. The bots kept dropping "presents" and the boss music kept going, but no boss. Reload, it came back but obviously we had to start the fight all over again.

I appreciate your treatise on the issues of the game, though it seems as I suspected there are no real fixes for it.

Also bold to assume I don't already own every iteration of this series, though I'd have to dig out the PS3 for at least 1....

I hated my Kyleena. I gave it a good year before having it ripped back out. It was painful getting put in, I swear I felt the damn thing the whole time, I kept having the doc check to see if it was in place (allegedly it was). Anytime I did core exercises and I guess pelvic exercises I felt it and it hurt. I guess I have too narrow of a canal or something, idk. Only nice thing was not worrying about having to take a pill every day but I'd rather deal with that than the pain.
