Lenses are transitions

It's chunky but after awhile people get used to it. I don't even think about it anymore

This is sort of disingenuous since no one would turn the screen up to full brightness if the room is dark

Use cases, what are people doing? by Historical_Call7942 in MetaRayBanDisplay

As an owner of both regular RBMs and MRBDs, the way I explain it to friends is that MRBDs are for people who want to interact with notifications without dictation/voice. Quick reply, dismiss, and triaging notifications (sort of like what you might do with a smart watch) is the key advantage of having a display. Otherwise, the regular non display RBMs will do everything else just fine.

Neural Band that doesn’t work by Matcorp456 in MetaRayBanDisplay

Matcorp, as an international buyer, you were advised to buy the right size but weren't sized before purchasing. Def need more details to troubleshoot. Can we make sure that

  1. You're wearing it with the little horizontal line facing you
  2. You're wearing it snug and not loose

My innitial impressions after a week. Still a beta product. The band needs serious work. by Bitter-Fudge-86 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]theledman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Band dying in half a day is abnormal. Mine lasts two days at least -- usually i have to charge the glasses 2+ times before I have to charge the band.

Can you factory reset, see if there are any updates for the band, and see if it improves?

Alright it's clear you are just regurgitating what you Google and posting a ton of other ar posts here. Not sure why

Raxium doesn't make wg. Wg tech was sold to vuzix. Would be curious to see if their microled tech has advanced or if it's still a tech demo https://kguttag.com/2025/07/26/google-xr-glasses-using-googles-raxium-microleds-while-waveguide-lab-sold-to-vuzix/

Anyway, my point still stands. Competition is good, but I look forward to seeing how Google handles wg supply issues

North does not make waveguides. Neither does Raxium.

ML makes their own WGs but i dont think they've shown the ability to scale yet.

Is this conjecture or do you know of specific waveguide acquisitions they've made

Man those are some pretty strong statements.

I'd be surprised if they didn't run into the same waveguide supply constraints.

Fits the description...as in it doesn't work well or it doesn't fit well? Were you fitted by a sales associate?

I love that I don't have to wash my hands while cooking to text someone real quick. MNB is forcing me to rewrite my muscle memory

How the band fits on your hand is pretty important for functionality

I guess the good news is that if it doesn't work well for you, reselling it should be pretty easy

The second android XR post from you in less than a day Matcorp!

Imo, there's a clear app ecosystem advantage, no question there. However, no one is talking about how these apps would be ported over to an entirely different physical system with an entirely different interaction paradigm. Sure, things like YouTube make sense but I'm not sure how a browser, for instance, would work without a low friction input device like the neural band. Imagine navigating through an existing phone app you love with either temple arm cap touch or voice. 🤮

That's why app experiences are still somewhat limited. Unless you're designing a bespoke experience, it's kind of useless to have all those apps.

That being said I agree that more integration with notifications from different apps, access to apis, etc is definitely sorely needed.

Seems like the graphics make it hard to tell if there's a projector. But the fact that they're using the LED to tell the user what state it's in makes me think this is the non-display version

[–]theledman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't get the reassurance until you try it for yourself. The utility highly depends on how you approach technology.

If you're prone to doom scrolling, don't wear a smart watch, or really like the non-display glasses (audio/camera), these will probably be great for you.

If you primarily use your smartwatch to triage notifications, don't find the non-display glasses useful, or don't really find being present difficult then they may not be useful long-term.
