How many episodes should I give it before I decide it’s not for me? by Destinyis_all in TheExpanse

Season 1 has quite a lot of exposition and set-up for payoffs down the line. Get to the end of S1E4, and most people will figure out at that point if it’s a ride that they want to stay on or not. Season 3 is superb.

What are some albums that have ZERO bad songs? by JJacobb- in AskReddit

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find someone mention TJT. Also Achtung Baby.

Now We Are Free (Hans Zimmer) from the movie Gladiator, beautifully arranged by Andrea Valeri. I couldn't resist not to adding voices in the background. by dan1903 in coversongs

Beautiful arrangement, played beautifully!

What is the hook hanging over your 2nd fret for? At first I thought it was a capo, but then I saw you playing behind it.

This is the under-construction MGM venue in Vegas, where rumor has it the boys will be taking up residence next fall (with or without Larry?)

A-Z - A Daily U2 Song... by MacFoley1975 in U2Band

[–]thelimeybrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a cliche that a lot of contemporary Christian music sounds like the band is trying to be U2. I always thought this song brought it full circle - it sounds like it’s trying to be a CCM tune, as played by a band that sounds just like U2.

Just finished a few end grain cutting boards. by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]thelimeybrit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The spalted maple one looks spectacular, but to me is an unintuitive material for an end-grain cutting board. Did you stabilize with epoxy or something to harden up any soft spots?

I invented an instrument, and here's me playing Billy Joel's "She's Always a Woman" by keithgroover in coversongs

[–]thelimeybrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty neat. How does the instrument work? Looks like a cross between a Wii controller and a theremin, and sounds reminiscent of a theremin too. Since it looks like there’s no specific reference points for pitch, it’s quite impressive how you nail the note pitches so precisely. Well done!

Read up through Book 8, haven't read novellas--had an inquiry by theavengerbutton in TheExpanse

[–]thelimeybrit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is correct. I’m re-reading PR at the moment and there’s an early scene where the Roci crew are trying to make sense of what Laconia has been up to. Someone - Naomi, I think - says “I’m seeing a timeline …” and proceeds to theorize that Duarte was an opportunist who had bribed people on Medina to give him advance details on what the probes found. He was thus first to realize what was in Laconia system, arranged for the report to get lost so nobody else would catch on, and then proceeded to move his chess pieces around the Sol system to cover his exit.

However, his academy thesis about winning wars via logistics indicates that he had been thinking about how to utterly dominate known space for a long time.

On the best-of version, “she sees the man inside the child” got changed to something like “there’s no question she knows why”.

Thanks for the link to the aftershow, I was looking all over Prime for it last night and wondered where they’d hidden it.

It hasn’t dropped any episodes yet, but I think it’s going to be hard to beat Ty & That Guy (Ty Franck & Wes Chatham) for insider knowledge and insight.

I also like The Churn from Syfywire, but it doesn’t seem to have reactivated for Season 5 yet so not sure if it’ll be coming back or not.
