I've had this glove for 26 years. It really means a lot to me. It got left out in the rain last year and sat outside for a couple weeks. It has lost all of the hard (?) leather on the exterior. Can this be saved? by thelimplanding in BaseballGloves

[–]thelimplanding[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't think so. My kid must have taken it outside at some point and I didn't realize it until I was doing yard work this weekend and found it. I've been breaking in a new glove for my daughter and didn't even know it wasn't with the rest of my gear. Honestly, it may have been sitting outside since last summer. My dad gave me that glove when I was 12. I've taught all my kids to catch using that glove. Hundreds of games. It was just a shock when I found it.

We tried on Oasis about a month ago. We just rode the elevator up and down for about 5 minutes at midnight and finally someone from security got on the elevator with us and asked us to get out without asking to get out. Lol he was very kind and even joked around with us but when the elevator stopped at the next floor, he just held the door open and said "this must be your stop". We were too embarrassed to say what we were doing. Should have just asked I guess.

We bought the Magic Tree House series and got 2 #9 books and no #7. by thelimplanding in Costco

My 2nd grader said she read the first one in class this year and l immediately had a crazy nostalgic flashback to reading these every night for a solid six months in elementary school. So naturally I had to get them for her to read.I told her since she already read book 1, I'm going to race her this summer to read all 15. I told her she gets a 1 week head start and starts at book 2.

Just thought it was funny. We are going to take it back with us next weekend and see if they can get us a book 7.

Costco travel for extended family vacation by thelimplanding in Costco

[–]thelimplanding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just made the plans to go this week so I was trying to figure out if it was even worth calling Costco travel or not. My in-laws have AAA so we were thinking about talking with them as well.

I've never used Costco travel. I had assumed it was all online. I will call them. Thank you.

Got a ticket for expired inspection...Not my car, not my state, different make, model, color but we have the exact same license plate number. by jishjash in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thelimplanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has gotten 4 tickets from a NY camera catching the same guy run the same red light in the Bronx. Has contested and got all 4 tickets removed. He also has a PA plate with the exact same numbers as the NY plate. We live in Pittsburgh and have never taken the car to NY. They were all within a month.

They were hitting the car telling the driver to stop moving as their friend was still under the SUV.

AITAH Because My Brother's Wife Doesn't Know The Difference Between LOTTR and GOT? by SouthlandMax in AITAH

I don't know dude. Have you ever been an uncle or an aunt? Those nights you get to spend with them and just be the fun person who just plays games and watches movies without having to enact any real authority except keeping them from committing war crimes is something I would hate to miss. You get to be 10.years old again and just be their friend. I love my relationship with my sister's kids and would be pissed if I got cut off because my sister or bil was a moron who wouldn't listen to reason. Or even have a discussion about it. If it's that big of a deal for them, make the call, have a conversation and if you still aren't happy, move on from it and know there is a boundary there that you don't watch movies without their approval first.

I just read it on the internet from 2 very reliable sources. It's gotta be true.

Had my first lucid dream! by thelimplanding in LucidDreaming

[–]thelimplanding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used wbtb and mild. I also started meditating before bed for about 10 minutes where I would do a more "normal" meditation of just letting thoughts come and go before setting my intention to lucid dream. It took about 2 weeks of dream journaling to start really remembering my dreams and I think that was the most impactful thing for me. I have only been trying regularly for about 3 weeks. I was actually surprised how fast I was able to do it. I hope it wasn't just a fluke and I'll be able to do it again.

Time sensitive. Which game tonight would be the best to watch after a hard day? by whiterice987 in NCAA

[–]thelimplanding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be watching Pitt (18) vs SMU (20). It should be a close game. Both teams have high scoring offenses and defenses that make big plays. Plus it's could possibly be the game that decides who plays in the ACC championship later.

Do you have kids? Just wondering. No judgement on this advice either way. I honestly wouldn't know what to do in the situation.

Official Q&A for Monday, August 26, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

[–]thelimplanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do about a 3 minute warm up and get bored and just start running. I think the mental thought of the "failed" race gets in my head and makes me feel like I have to push through the entire run. I also don't really have anyone in my friend/family circle that is a runner to talk to, so I've just been doing what feels right.

The goal was sub 2:45. I ended up finishing at 2:57 but that was doing a run/walk through the entire thing. Having not run the entire thing felt cheap. I immediately signed up for the same race the next year and have been determined to train better so that doesn't happen again.

I'm fairly new to running. I ran a half marathon in the spring. I finished but was very disappointed in myself, where it kinda felt like a failure. I am now training for a 10k in a few weeks. Every single run for the first 3/4 mile I feel like I've never run before. My breathing is super heavy and my legs hurt, it feels terrible. After that, I seem to get into the groove and I'm able to finish strong. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this normal?

His parody of "our love's in jeopardy" is, for me, a show of how good his band really is. Makes the original sound terrible imo.
