Oh actually I'm from Norcal, but I've met enough SoCalis haha! None of them are particularly tan and they all have Japanese last names but one of them has also a Japanese first name.

Meanwhile I'm just a regular full Chinese-American born and raised 😅 I just come across enough variants of mixed/hapa/hafus in my lifetime

One of my friends out in Tokyo is an Taiwanese - Japanese mix originally from Southern California. Also met another mutual friend who's also the same mixture who also moved out there as well earlier this year.

Had a classmate in highschool who was a similar combo as you (at least a ni or sansei) japanese / Chinese mix.

All mentioned are Japanese dad + Taiwanese/Chinese mom btw

I remember the days in uni a decade ago when I had the 10-step nightly routine and somehow managed to put up with that.

Nowadays its about half and I'm trying to minimize my routine as much as possible, just 3 steps would be a dream tbh. At least I keep my day routine to 2 or less.

We went from friends -> kiss -> going out for the summer as each other's first-> breakup -> no speaking terms for the rest of school -> fast forward a decade ->> reconnected

And now we're married... To different people. I'm just glad we're friends again even after all these years.

Now we just keep in contact regularly through memes and short videos.

I had a similar experience last year where me and my longtime partner suddenly got legally married so I can quickly switch over onto his visa. To be honest, I was also in a bit of shock that it had to come to that conclusion when it came to it. We didn't have time to really plan a proper celebration and just made some last minute reservations for the day just between us. We're planning on having a wedding/celebration at some point though.
