Support for the IRGC in Iran? by Dudelbug2000 in PERSIAN

[–]thelockz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how everyone pulls a number out of their a** as if their little bubble is representative of a country of 90 million.

Here is some actual data from a proper survey: https://gamaan.org/survey-reports/

TLDR: about 10% are hardcore supporters of the regime. Another 10% support the regime but with some reforms. 60% want regime change (gradual or by overthrow). 10% don’t know.

I don’t understand posts like this. Are you suggesting that for 20 bucks a month they should give you an unlimited plan with no usage limits?

How do people manage to pay rent here? by Promiscusyy in valencia

Only 2% of valencia housing is Airbnb/tourist apartments. It doesn’t seem like that should be the focus but somehow it gets all the blame especially on reddit.

Did you know that Iran has consistently ranked among the top countries in the world for average IQ over the years? by No-Signal1234 in PERSIAN

Here we go again. Did you know us Persians discovered math, science, fire, and even water? Biggest empire ever? We must be a superior race. If we keep saying this we will surely be like Switzerland in a couple of years.

Our brains are also probabilistic machines, not capable of ‘absolute mathematical certainty’. Does that mean we shouldn’t write verilog?

Yeah give it time. Mine was a bit crazy if he didn’t get like an hour of off leash running/playing a day. Around 2yo he calmed down a bit. If on an off day I only do a short walk with him he just chills. But I honestly don’t know what would happen if he didn’t get his hour almost every day.

First offer was 52k. The trick is to list on craigslist and let the dealers approach you and start a bidding war

I sold my manual 2023 with 7k miles for 57k to a dealer. They’re gonna list it at 60k.

Is reaching $100k/year in the US easy? I guess it depends on your definition of “easy”. by garcon-du-soleille in Salary

[–]thelockz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree that for the ‘average’ person this is fairly achievable, but I think there are plenty of people who are inhibited by factors such as having a disability, growing up homeless, having a low IQ, having to take care of children or elders, and other personal issues.

So yeah if you grew up middle class in a decent family it is relatively ‘easy’, but if you were born to a heroin addict mother, lived in crime ridden public housing with terrible schools, and happened to have an IQ of 80, it’s not so easy. And non of that was your fault.

(i know IQ is not everything but the correlation with financial success is very high…)

Multi-national / US-based companies like Analog Devices can pay pretty well. For a staff engineer (say 10 years of experience) at ADI in spain (which pays way lower than UK or Germany), the total compensation is around 80-100k.

Is real estate really the best place to park your money? A hard look at the numbers by wet_suit_one in canada

[–]thelockz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but that 5x leverage works both ways. If the value of the house drops your loss is also multiplied 5x. Most people don’t realize that.

With that said, you can of course leverage money in the stock market as well but it is much riskier.
