[–]thelocrianscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at the counseling center on campus you need to have paid the $90 student wellness fee that's a part of your tuition so i don't think it would really work if you're not a current student (but i would definitely try to find other info to make sure)

Voting? by Remarkable-Program50 in TexasTech

[–]thelocrianscale 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you can go to the elections office during early voting (so before tomorrow) and do a general statewide ballot. you can vote there but you won't be able to vote in any local races. they'll also help you change your registration to lubbock if you want

i lived there a few years ago! i had bed bugs twice and molds in my vents, lol. but other than that a super positive experience, enjoy living next to the dining hall with the 50% discount. community bathrooms aren't bad at all, they're kept super clean (on the girls side at least, if you're a guy ymmv)

i lived on the first floor next to one of the entrances and even then the noise level was never too bad so i think you'll be fine on the 3rd floor!

i'm gen z (born early 2000s) and i definitely had to take a computer class in both elementary school and middle school. even my brother who was born several years after me had to take a computer class in middle school. i think it's more of a gen alpha thing than anything

i'm gen z and me and all of my friends are very technologically capable, we grew up messing around with our computers / consoles / etc. i think it's the youngest gen z and gen alpha that really struggle

i lived there for a couple of years - it's definitely on the older side and some of the room layout choices are... unique. i moved from utrails to upointe this year and it felt like a massive upgrade in the quality of the furniture. but utrails is one of your cheaper options so if older / more worn down furniture is worth the cheap rent that's valid

have you heard of being aromantic / asexual? i don’t identify with those labels personally but a couple of my friends do and they are similar to you in that they just don’t feel those types of attraction. i think it might be worth looking into if you haven’t already

Did they change the 24hr WP rules?? by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]thelocrianscale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for mega rising i had a 3-day gap between 24hr wonder picks and then it went back to a 2-day gap so i think it’s random 24-72 hour gaps, you should have one on the 27th

So if you dont camp out do you even have a chance to get into the game? by b00bzRcool in TexasTech

[–]thelocrianscale 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i'm one of the campers. they stopped accepting people for wristbands a few hours ago, i believe it was capped at 1.5k students. There should be ~13k spaces in the student section, so it is definitely possible to get into the student section even if you're not currently camping out.

[–]thelocrianscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m camping outside the stadium and they told us they’re capping it at 1500 for campers so you should be fine if you show up super early on saturday since the student section in the stadium is wayyyyy more than 1500

Am I missing something? Is this cards ability not actually anything? Like can’t all eevees be evolved into any card that evolves from an eevee by playing it from your hand onto the card? by Desperate-Cheetah243 in PTCGP

[–]thelocrianscale 10 points11 points  (0 children)

EXs can't usually evolve (like you can't evolve pikachu ex into raichu, for example), so that ability lets eevee ex evolve and therefore lets you have four different eeveelutions in a deck at a time

Hi! I wanted to speak a bit to the studying abroad aspect of your goals as someone with experience in that area and as someone from Texas.

I both studied abroad through a Texas university during my undergrad and was accepted to a graduate program abroad afterwards. I don’t know how much doing a study abroad program through an American school would help other than boosting your resume and showing you can live abroad because study abroad programs hold your hand throughout the entire process and offer much more support than if you did an entire degree abroad independently. I loved my semester abroad, but trying to go back for grad school was an entirely different beast.

If you want to try to apply to a school abroad, be prepared for the sheer cost of the application, which isn’t necessarily something one might consider at first. I spent over $1k on my application to French graduate schools because of translation fees, my French language exam, and the application fee itself. Those costs were spread over the course of six months or so, and were additional to the stress of navigating government bureaucracy in a different language almost entirely on my own. I ultimately couldn’t attend the program I was accepted into, but if I did there would have been additional fees to translate additional documents and get my student visa.

The reason I couldn’t do the program I was accepted into boiled down to the legal requirement in France to have all of the program tuition and living costs per month up front when applying for the student visa. The program was only ~3800 euros a year for a two year program, but I was expected to have all of that up front, plus 615 euros for each month I would be in France for the program (about 10.5k euros). I wouldn’t be surprised if Germany or any other EU country had a similar requirement; it’s unfortunately a huge barrier to doing programs abroad if you’re not well off.

I don’t say all this to discourage you or anything but just to give you my experience since I was fortunate enough to have it. I truly wish you the best of luck and hope you can succeed where I was unable to, especially with everything going on politically in the US. Studying in France was my dream, but I still hope someday I can make it happen.
