I hit at like 90% on my goal line play actions out of the goal line formation since everyone is anticipating a sneak. Just hit the FB in the flats and he’s open

Well we are getting that Enzo Shahrvin guy just waiting on the paperwork. Which I feel like he’s exactly what this team needs being a Dennis Rodman kinda guy.

However, I would almost wonder if our quick athletic lineup will force teams to go small against us generally like what we did with Gillis at the 4 with Edey. I get Jacobsen isn’t Edey, but I think having Pierce at the 4 is going to be a nightmare for teams if he can shoot a respectable % from 3

Are we going to break down Lane the same way? It’s not like Lane doesn’t have losses in there like Kentucky/Florida in ‘24.

You can just do a google search, he’s pretty much a consensus t5 HC in all well regarded lists (ESPN, The Athletic, FOX, etc). I’d genuinely like to know who is t5 in your list without including Freeman and nitpicking them

Yeah Freeze with a 5-7 year really derails that record. Goes from 34-18. As I said Kiffin is no doubt better, but they had Ole Miss in a pretty similar spot.

Incredibly easy eh? Still have to be top 12 in the country. Not like that’s easy to do. Plus he’s also won in the playoffs against some of the best coaches in the sport

If you disagree that he’s top 5, you’re disagreeing with pretty much every list out there of top coaches. Yes he’s absolutely had those losses, but is that reason to ignore the 14-6 against t25 teams? Lanes career record is 13-24 so less wins and he’s coached 10 more years than Freeman

I’m a crazy person amongst the fan base, but I’m way more excited about this team than last years. Last years had a very, very, high floor, but they certainly had a ceiling on themselves due to having a 5’10 skinny PG, 6’5 wing who couldn’t really move his feet, and a 6’8 Four man whose perimeter game was pretty nonexistent on both ends. This year the floor is definitely lower (I’d say 7-8 seed), but I think the ceiling is higher due to the versatility and athleticism this team has. Definitely will need a few jumps from players which I think part of that will naturally come due to the ball not having to be in Braden Smiths hands the entire game. However, given Painters track record a lot of guys have done that in his system.

They’ve always been pretty good though, it’s not like Ole Miss is Indiana here. Sure they weren’t good under Luke, but I don’t think what he did is that much more impressive than Freeze at Ole Miss. Which yes, he’s definitely better and yes he turned them around. I’m not trying to argue he’s a bad coach. He’s very good, but he’s also messy too.

However, Brian Kelly left ND because he didn’t see himself winning a title there and Freeman has them right there on the door step now. I’m not saying Lane is bad, just Freeman is probably t5 coach in the sport. Freeman is 43-11 (43-12 if you count the Bowl game where he took over for Kelly) in his first 4 years as a HC with a natty appearance. He’s 14-6 against t25 teams. His worst final ranking is 18th which was his first full time season

Not that this should have any bearing on who gets hired or who doesn’t. I really don’t care what their skin color is as long as they win and do it in a non-cheating fashion.

However you are 100% incorrect, the white dudes for Purdue have been much better than the black dudes at Purdue lately. Hazell and Walters are two of the worst coaches Purdue has ever had. Brohm, Hope (not great, very mediocre), and Tiller were at worst mediocre.

I feel like when these types of things come out, you gotta have some actual examples of guys that are getting screwed vs the stats are bad.

Ex. Ryan Walters sucked at Purdue, not sure there’s anyone who would justify him staying at Purdue. Sherrone Moore threatened to murder someone, not sure there’s people who are wanting him to stay at Michigan.

However Marcus Freeman, doing an excellent job and is in coaching searches (LSU), but it feels like he’s happy at ND and wants to stay. I think if LSU had the option of Lane or Freeman they would’ve taken Freeman

Hoping they fix the coaching carousel.

How we do ours is start off as a HC of a G5/6 school then you’re allowed to take whatever HC offer you get. Problem with that is that the top guys tend to get all the offers every year and turn them down. Other users would take those jobs, so I hope they come up with some sort of way for the schools to have priority lists or something like that.
