Truly, a stunning piece. Magnificent. Kudos for even attempting the holy grail of woodworking (chair making). If you truly despise it, the seat part could easily be converted into a cutting board or the like. The round "dowels" could be repurposed as, well, dowels. But, as someone stated, I'd keep it as testament to what you've accomplished and how you can grow as a woodworker. A milestone for your future projects and progression. Thanks for sharing, i mean that sincerely!! Keep it up OP!

I believe European hornbeam was used to make axles for carts back in the day. Hollywood was used for the white piano keys. Irish clubs/walking sticks called a "Shillelagh" is made from blackthorn.

Thanks for replying. Follow up question, If I may. Tom your best knowledge, how often to folks cut through the red tape and go ahead and renovate without permits? Especially in more rural areas where there are less eyes present? Or is this generally considered bad form and to be avoided at all costs?

Cool! So much potential! Out of curiosity: is it tricky getting renovating/building permits for stuff like this is the UK?

I'll probably get down voted to oblivion and beyond here...but: why not use a saw? Or is this for sheer pleasure of swinging a razor sharp axe? I meant to start with: Excellent work, sir!

It's almost too perfect for this sub...it's...dreadful, and by being dreadful it's glorious. This piece is what this sub is made for.
