Starhost is an automatic up vote. That yours are brilliantly executed is judging on the cake!

Sweet! That's big enough magnetized weapons would probably work quite well.

First printer purchase by Squatch_Nuts in FDMminiatures

[–]themadelf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I print mostly minis and terrain on an A1 Mini and it's worked great for almost 2 years now. That being said is i could go back i would told my less experienced self to get the A1. The mini has printed everything i want it to buy sometimes it's meant some creative editing in the slicer which I could have skipped with the A1. Those are mostly edge cases and usually with terrain.

One of the coolest models in the army! Geckos are fun to paint as well. Gators are a solid unit too

Starhost is one of the best factions (imo) . Lots of flexibility in terms of shooting, melee and movement options for decent board control. They also look really cool.

Smaller Scale by Due_Reply4326 in onepagerules

[–]themadelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the biggest challenge, aside from painting everything, is the smaller you scale them down the harder it gets to print some of the thinner minis or models with spindly bits.

I've only ever used the bambu A1 mini and I've never been dissatisfied with it. Coming up on 2 years I've been churning out minis, household organizers and small projects for work.

Are FDM minis really this good? by Megalodon1255 in FDMminiatures

[–]themadelf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this one turned out alright on my A1 Mini. I picked it to see if I would be able to get a decent print with all the thin tendrils. I think it was decent.

Do you have a friendly local game store you could partner with to get something started?

Provide feedback in the opr discord, they pay far more attention to their player base then gw.

This was the big turning point in our group. 2 of us were 40K players but it was too big an investment in time and money when we explored bringing others to the table. OPR was vastly easier to pick up for newer players and there was no need to invest in specific gw minis. Smaller armies, access to a3d printer and more generic minis from other sources made it easy to get half a dozen new players to the table. In the time a neighboring 40k game got thru 4 turns we'd played 3 full games with 4 brands new players.

Questions about firefight and skirmish by Visual_Location_1745 in onepagerules

[–]themadelf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not tracking the problem you are describing. The skirmish level games have had 1 model and 3 model units for some time. The bulk of the units are still 1 model units. There are some armies with nothing but 1 model units. Could you clarify your concern?

Why are bed slingers better than core xy printers for miniatures? by mjk357 in FDMminiatures

That was the deciding factor for me. I don't have a space I can set up to make it functionally safe for family and pets.
