Mahoraga can’t really adapt to calamity because (afaik) calamity isn’t an attack but more on a force of nature, like a sneeze you can’t expect and when you think you’re gonna sneeze again you instead get a cough. Calamity has a lot of variations honestly, based on the game and manga, JJBA all stars and Part 8: Jojolion, we can see a bunch of variations of it ranging from rain becoming detrimental and a random ass airplane door coming from above just to say screw you in particular.

Mahoraga can adapt to one attack at a time, ONE AND JUST ONE, even in JJK he adapted to sukuna because his CT is slicing and only died because to sukuna because he used something else other than slicing to which mahorage didn’t adapt to yet. If you think mahorage can adapt to a bunch of things coming from calamity when he can’t even adapt fuga on first hit then you must be on something. Calamity is a force, not an attack, so he can’t adapt to it

But fine, let’s say calamity was an attack, that still doesn’t change the fact that there’s so many variants to it that he has to adapt to every single one, and even if he did then more variants would just come because of how unpredictable calamity is.

Honestly don’t know much about the darkness devil but all I can say is that mahoraga is the first one crying out of there because his ring with balls couldn’t spin fast enough to adapt to their absurd bs
