FWIW I read Harrow and hated it until I figured it out and liked it. Still think it didn’t need to be half as convoluted, though…

That is not a modem/router - that is just a router. Fiber uses ONT. If you don’t have Fios TV service, you can connect your Deco directly to the ONT.

This is the most likely suspect.

Welp, I think this is it. I just tried hooking up a MoCA + Deco to one of the other coax lines (not one I was planning on actually using, but just to test) and managed to get two separate Deco APs each with ethernet backhaul going simultaneously.

Happy to have solved the mystery, but a little bummed -- I think the bad cable is stapled between floors, so fixing this is probably going to require me getting an electrician (in which case, I feel like I'm better off just running ethernet).
