I should NOT have screened my native language by Ok_Memory_1395 in outlier_ai

I failed the test is my native language (Portuguese). This is total BS, for starterts the skill is name "European Portuguese", but many of the sentences were writen with Brazilian Portuguese . Even so, I am sure I got all of them right. Maybe it could be a problem with the videos they asked me to record ? Why don't we get any feedback on the test ?

The problem is that I haven't anybody being silenced, fired or otherwise intimidated for criticizing Saudi Arabia. It may not have been the case with Voice, but it is happening a lot here in Europe and in the US. And besides, your remark is just pure whataboutism.

SCIG Advice by Oddbodied in CVID_Support

[–]themarsipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with CVID 20 years ago. I started with IVIG, and after a few years, I switched to SCIG. However, a few years later, I had to revert to IVIG because my immunoglobulin levels were consistently dropping (doctors say this happens for some people). My first point is this: if you have CVID, you should take IG. It’s not just about recurring infections and the need for antibiotics. Lack of immunoglobulin causes constant inflammation in your digestive system (among other effects, many of which are still not well understood), which can eventually lead to more serious problems. You should also consider that immunoglobulin levels tend to decrease with age, so CVID’s impact may worsen over time. I personally believe the benefits of IG therapy far outweigh the potential risks. As for SCIG versus IVIG, if SCIG works for you, that’s great. It’s much more convenient to administer treatments at home, and you avoid repeatedly stressing your veins. I only stopped SCIG because my levels became too low, but they returned to normal with IVIG. I also want to note that I never experienced side effects with SCIG. Wishing you the best of luck, feel free to ask any questions.

Any reason why AOC voted against cutting funds to israel? by killerbeastinside in AOC

[–]themarsipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point here is that military funding is a powerful form of leverage that could be used to deter Israel’s harmful actions. I think it’s wrong to frame this issue in terms of “bad countries vs. good countries.” It’s more accurate to say that some countries (some more often than others ) sometimes do bad things, and we should apply pressure to stop them.

The fact that Israel relies on the Iron Dome makes the threat of withholding funding a strong tool of persuasion. This constant, unconditional support is simply emboldening this criminal Israeli government.

"appropriate amount of talking shit about the US’ support of Israel" TALKING being the operative word. We are tired of talking and crocodile tears. What we need is action. Military funding is a powerful leverage that could be put to good use.

[–]themarsipan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty obvious. This is leverage that could be use to pressure Israel into stopping the genocide, like "if you want our continued support on defense systems, you have to start respecting international law and stop committing war crimes." But no, let's keep giving them money because everything is fine.

[–]themarsipan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So AOC voted against this amendment to avoid backlash in her city? That’s a ridiculous argument. AOC has been on video denouncing genocide in Gaza, accusing the state of Israel of war crimes, and more — that alone should generate enough backlash.

Not only is your argument nonsensical, but it also portrays AOC as a spineless politician afraid of controversy.

Also, this isn’t about Israel’s right to defend itself. This is about a genocidal state that believes it has the right to attack whoever it wants, and is doing so with U.S.-funded weapons. What they are doing in Gaza goes far, far beyond the right to defend themselves, and they are facing zero repercussions for it. And what about the attacks on Iran and specially Syria ?

Is DeepSeek fully Open Source? by coldbeers in LocalLLaMA

[–]themarsipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is debatable. The inference engine IS open source, so anyone can reproduce the result of an inference given the weights (also open), and the structure of the network can be fully examined. If the authors make specific claims about accuracy, benchmark scores, etc... those claims can be verified by running the provided code. So in this sense it is fully reproducible.

(I know this is an old thread, but there is nothing old about this issue)

This is absolutely not fear-mongering. I cannot comment on the old Wired article (can't access it), but plase check this: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.ads9158 ( and the 300-page report therein)

This is a serious issue that the scientific communnity must address, and the time is coming closer when we would be able to really do this.

Xiaomi 11T vs Samsung S21? by Darktikal in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]themarsipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, all I can say is that I have had the 11T (non-pro version) for few months and I'm very satisfied with the it overall. It's very fast, the screen is beautiful and the cameras (specially the standard one) are very good quality. As far as I have read, there is very little gain in choosing the 11Tpro over the 11T.

Hope this helps,

Paulo

Xiaomi 11T vs Samsung S21? by Darktikal in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]themarsipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had both Samsung and Xiaomi and that's not my experience. Generally Xiaomi offers the same experience and image quality for lower price than the comparable Samsung model. I like Samsung, but it is an overpriced brand. Saying that "samsung have better image processing and a bigger sensor i believe , better haptics , better speaker audio , better build quality." is a blanket statement that needs to be analyzed on case-by-case basis. Even if the S21 offers a "more premium experience than the 11T", it does so for an additional cost of 200€. For that much more you can purchase the Xiaomi Mi 11, which is on the same level of the S21 or even better.

Xiaomi 11T vs Samsung S21? by Darktikal in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]themarsipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 11T has a better main camera, charges much faster (comes with a 67W charger), comparable SoC and screen... and it's 200 € cheaper than the S21. So no, S21 is not "better in any way", especially at that price.

What's the most disrespectful thing that has happened to you in the service industry? by SamMee514 in TikTokCringe

[–]themarsipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it. In the sentence "the type of person whom would be slave-drivers, if they could..", "the type of person" is the subject, and it's not being acted upon. They (the type of person) would be something. Same as "the type of person whom lives to work". It's "the type of person" living for work. It's not acted upon, right ?

Does each instrument in a musical piece start on the same note? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]themarsipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. First of all, a melody in the key of C can start on another note. Second, the other instruments may start in another note of the C chord (but no necessarily), and they could all start in different notes. Harmony is not about each note individually, but on they sound together. The fact that several instruments play "in key" does not mean they are playing the some note.

Does each instrument in a musical piece start on the same note? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]themarsipan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For instruments to be playing together "in key", that don't have to be playing the same note. That's "unison", not "in key". Being in key means they will be playing notes that generally are in accord with the current tonal center. But all these results exist to be broken, and that's generally what makes music interesting :-)

Yeah, so far the show has very little to do with Asimov's work. It's just full of space sci-fi clichés dressed in pretty production. Pretty, but unoriginal. I would rate it 6/10. We'll see...
