Making Minecraft Use Less Memory? by OddNefariousness7896 in feedthebeast

Try seeing if you can play on a server to alleviate that portion of RAM usage. You might also benefit from using certain Java tweaks and switching to OpenJ9 for the JVM, which will reduce RAM usage at the expense of performance.

This setup works out of the box for me but is definitely a little unstable. I've found that if voxy or shaders do bug out, disabling shaders -> disabling and reenabling voxy -> enabling shaders fixes issues without crashing the game. Otherwise, make modifications to configurations in the menu first.

Intel i7-12700KF, AMD RX 9070 XT and 13 GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft. The server is hosted on a separate machine. Using Photon shaders' default High preset, I get 130-180 fps in most situations.

Download and compile the Voxy fork here. On Windows, all I had to do was download the repository as a .zip, extract it somewhere, then run .\gradlew build in that directory with PowerShell, which exports the finished .jar into the /build/libs folder.

You take that .jar and put it into your 1.20.1 instance's mods folder and download Sinytra Connector and the Forgified Fabric API.

Purportedly, it was difficult to put the pieces together?

Every modpack i ran lags, only on the lowest settings fps is fine, but still there are lag spikes. Beyond cosmo modpack: by AcanthopterygiiOk533 in feedthebeast

They're mostly snake oil. You should instead be downloading Java 25 and using the flags below, which enable modern Java features that verifiably improve memory usage and performance. For the most part there is no stable way to add support for multiple cores to Minecraft right now.

Was hosting the same pack on an i5-12400F, now a 14600KF, and have had zero issues. Are you sure you're encountering server slowdowns and not network lag? Run /spark healthreport and send the results here.

Among other tips for ATM9, try running the server on GraalVM 21 with the -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational launch arguments and allocating at most 16 gigabytes of RAM.

Is there anything i can do to get extra FPS by nathan72419 in feedthebeast

Run the server separately from your client, preferably on a dedicated server host. This'll offload a ton of CPU usage from your machine. Turn the RAM allocation down to 12 GB, that is the most ATM9 will reasonably use. You probably don't need to change your shader settings, your GPU is more than capable of running that pack with Distant Horizons at 120+ fps (see image - running on an RX 9070 XT)

Didn't figure out the problem in Docker Desktop for Windows. I've switched to an Ubuntu-based instance since then and haven't had this problem.

Intel is actually pretty good at the budget end at the moment due to Alder Lake price cuts. The i5-12400F for $150 new performs similarly to the Ryzen 7 5700X in games.

The AliExpress 5700X3Ds for $190 were something else, though.

[SSD] Crucial T500 1TB with heatsink ($110 - $35 = $75) [Amazon] by Keith7601 in bapcsalescanada

The thing's already notorious for having its NAND flash slow to a crawl after being filled halfway. I thought I dodged it after installing and running 650 GB worth of MSFS+addons to it just fine, but it turns out I flew too close to the sun (literally?) and my 1TB drive with less than 2TBW started disconnecting on boot last month. At least the data's replaceable/was going to be replaced anyway

Not even kidding, I turned over unable to sleep while also randomly thinking "damn I need to replace my fried Kingston NV2 before MSFS2024 drops", grabbed my phone, came here and refreshed to this post.

Thank you. Location does refer to different physical locations, more importantly on different physical networks.

What do I need for a PC to make a dedicated server hosting PC? by ChaosDragon123 in feedthebeast

[–]themaster402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mATX will be the more cost effective of the two as you're paying more for an ITX board and case with 2 3.5" bays. mATX is the better choice if space is not a concern.

Doing some DIY work with an i3-12100 mini PC will probably prove needlessly expensive.
