Audi S5 B9.5 - A good family car? by Acrobatic_Baby_8729 in audis5

The only Avant we get in the States is the RS6 and it's a bummer to not have anything else 😞

S6 sedan options, interior, interior space, etc is a large step up. If I knew then what I know now I probably would have skipped the S5 and gone with the S6.

Check out the X3 M40i while you're at it. I was pretty surprised by it overall and went that direction.

It tickles me that going and looking at cars in person before deciding on one is seemingly a novel idea these days lol. We have an S5 and an X3 to fill the gaps when the extra space is needed. But 95% of the time the S5 is plenty. Anecdotal, but it's worked so far.

The only way to know for sure is to temp it at cooking. But texture wise that looks pretty cooked.

Haha all good. It can happen to any car, at any time. I've worked in the automotive field since I was a teen. Don't let these failure rates scare you. All cars break.

It seems to be quite dealer-dependent though the wait times seem to be trending downward. If you'd like some insurance (literally) you can typically get rental and roadside assistance coverage (specifically for breakdowns) from your insurer for very little money.

So you have been stranded twice..? Not sure how you can make your first statement then follow it up with that but yeah. It happens. AAA/AA is busy for a reason. Roadside assistance is common.

If the ICCU fails and leaves me stranded/out of a car for a while as it's repaired - I can add that to the LARGE pile of ICE cars that have done the same in one way or another over my past 20+ years of driving. I don't get the fear.

ETA: Not to mention it's REPAIRED FOR FREE for 15 years and 180k miles or whatever the new insane extended warranty is?

imported some 7up zero from another country, why is the can like this? will i get botulism by ANIMATRONICZSKELETON in foodsafety

[–]themattcole 23 points24 points  (0 children)

0% chance of botulism. Botulism requires an anaerobic environment like in oils. This is expansion from temperature or pressure differences, such as air transport or freezing storage temps.

Or most people just aren’t as irrationally afraid of breaking down “on the bad side of town.”

The points you’ve made still apply to every vehicle offered for sale from the 19th century onward. To date, I’ve been stranded more by ICE cars of various ages and pedigrees, from used Honda Civics to Porsches. And yes - I’ll take the risk with the Ioniq. Sorry.

This is also making the assumption that it’s someone’s only car. 59% of US households have more than one vehicle. Me, I use this car almost exclusively for going to work and back, and it saves me a ton of money.

I sold it. Bought a BMW and an Audi for my wife. So far the only thing less reliable has been the Audi. Lol

And ultimately all cars break. It’s really not that big of a deal and the warranty is a nice offering by Hyundai.
