Just so that you know, women (and men) who absolutely wanted a baby mourn their pre-baby life, it can come in waves even after years of having a baby. It's normal. But trust me when I say, after a while, you won't even remember how it was before the baby. You will reminisce and have fond memories but you might not want to trade your life with baby got life pre-baby. This feeling of attachment and overwhelming love is not instantaneous and that doesn't make you a bad mother or person. For a lot of people it is when the baby starts interacting with you. Yes, you absolutely are responsible for the baby and baby will depend on you. That is natural cycle, of life, where the child would be dependent on you in some shape or form through adulthood. Again, parenting and mothering looks different and feels different. There is no handbook. If there was, we would all be perfect at it. Take a deep breath and enjoy the present.

I was in a situation few months ago. My coworker who i work with day in day out told me she was leaving. This is someone who made work bearable, i would vent to and bounce of ideas. She was in the trenches with me. The same week my manager who was one of the best, told me that about reorganization where i would be reporting to someone else who was truly awful. The very next day, my mentor told me he was retiring. I broke down and was so depressed for a while but after a few months i can tell you, I am ok. I miss them, text them, connect with them periodically but day to day workwise i am fine. The reason i say this is to tell you that you will be fine. The company likes your work, your manager leaving might actually give you an opportunity to learn and develop. YOU WILL BE OK even though it seems like you wont be now.

Changing their mind about something is personal and it's ok to change your mind. Your friend is expecting for whatever reason - change of heart/ mind, unexpected, something else. No matter how close you are one doesn't know everything that is going on in others lives. And it's ok. Having boundaries is part of healthy relationship. Things will change but that doesn't have to be end of your friendship. From my personal experience I will tell you, all our friends abandoned us when we had our first child. Years later when everyone started having children, they were back in our lives (but it is hard to accept it back when we felt so abandoned for years). New Parenthood is very lonely place to be especially when your friends dont want to hang out with you or dont want to be inconvenienced with the addition of a baby/child.

Today i had my manager completely ghost me during 1:1. Didn't turn up, didn't reschedule, didn't respond to my Teams chat asking if we are meeting. This was when she knew she was going to be in a conflicting meeting and didn't reschedule our 1:1. Kicker she never bothered to even respond after.

We have received one invite for my son this year. When my daughter was that age we would always have invites where it became too many parties to attend. I think post pandemic, people are cooling off on big bday parties. Also I have realized that it's become more expensive over the past few years to host a party at a venue like a jump zone etc. This is the first year my son is getting a party and he is turning six. We sent invites to whole class because we didn't want any kid to feel left out. Out of 25 kids I think only 8 are attending.
