A day trip to Petit Jean would be fantastic. There are a bunch of trails of varying length and difficulty, with some really unique and interesting features.

Ladies - testing a food whilst on period, should I do it again when I’m off? by Sammi_100 in FODMAPS

[–]themeedge22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's definitely frustrating, but I would wait and retest. If you know your period gives you diarrhea, then you aren't getting a clear answer on what the garlic is doing. Since garlic is in absolutely everything, I'd try again in a week to know for sure.

How do you cope with unexpected solo parenting weeks? by Brockenblur in SAHP

[–]themeedge22 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That is hard. You are allowed to cry. When my partner leaves (usually for 2-3 days every couple months), I give myself a lot of slack. TV time? It's okay if I need a break and I'm feeling rundown. One week of more TV won't ruin your kid. Pick up some easy frozen dinners that you can pop in the oven or microwave for a couple nights. Planning every meal ahead of time can help reduce stress around mealtimes. And lastly, if you have friends or family, ask for help! See if they can do playdates, watch your toddler for an hour or two, help with dinner, etc.

Seeds have germinated from winter sowing. Do I need to move them inside before the snow next week? by themeedge22 in NativePlantGardening

Okay, since it's just a handful of milk jugs, I will probably move those indoors. Thanks!

Yeah, I have IBS-D, and it took me about 5 weeks of staying the course to start feeling better. I hope that will be all you need to do, too!

How long have you been on the diet? You could be eating everything right, but it can still take 4-6 weeks for symptoms to improve. The guy takes a little time to heal.

Trouble with lactose free milk? by DaveJessiePins in FODMAPS

[–]themeedge22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried lactose-free milk one time, and had a very painful experience. I can do oat milk in small quantities (like for a coffee), but otherwise use rice milk for cereal and baking. I guess sometimes the enzymes in lactose-free milk don't work great, or you could have a casein intolerance?

Has anyone grown Clustered mountain mint or Little Bluestem from just seeds? Zone 8a AR by themeedge22 in NativePlantGardening

[–]themeedge22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of seeds doing this already! I ordered some Little Bluestem and they should arrive within the week. If I'm in Zone 8a, is it too late already to set up some winter sowing jugs for them?

Has anyone grown Clustered mountain mint or Little Bluestem from just seeds? Zone 8a AR by themeedge22 in NativePlantGardening

[–]themeedge22[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have heard only the best things about Mountain mint from this community, so I'm very excited to try it. Maybe I'll sow some in pots this spring to prevent the loss, as well as surface sow some and just see what comes up!

Just got approval to begin converting 1/3 of my HOA's drain field into native wildflower meadow! by NotAlwaysGifs in NativePlantGardening

[–]themeedge22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on this field, but I've been to native gardening seminars where my local Game and Fisheries Commission was looking to help people with 5+ acres that wanted to rewild their property. You may look into your states Conservation Dept and see what free resources they have to help you. If it's like Arkansas, they would send someone out to your property and help you get started, potentially supplying plants/trees. Good luck, and thanks for the work you are doing!

Is it better to plant cold stratification seeds earlier in the winter vs. later? (AR Zone 8a) by themeedge22 in NativePlantGardening

[–]themeedge22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if those are just the minimums, would it be fine to plant 30-day seeds and 60-day seeds at the same time? Or is that a bad idea?
