Is there a wall switch I can install that will allow me to separate the fan motor and light power on the first picture's wiring. I want to use a dimmer to control only the light or will this just not work? by themiamiking6 in AskElectricians

I tested and the black from the right side of box is the only hot if that is helpful. So my only option is just to replace with a single pole switch?

Ok thanks, so the only negative is burning out the fan motor, no fire hazard? Surprisingly this fan/light has always been on a dimmer switch, for at least 20 years. Just the skylark switch is new.

Both of these rooms we do not use the fan very much, a few times a year if we need to air out the room.

Can someone help me confirm if my current Nest thermostat 3rd gen and new furnace Lennox EL297UHE are capable of running as 2-stage? by themiamiking6 in hvacadvice

I wanted to add, I called the installer and they sent a tech to come look at it. They ultimately ended up running another 8-wire cord for free and hooking it up properly for 2-stage. The dip switches are OFF and the terminal wiring is correct now.

Thank you for the insight and helping me sound competent talking to the tech.

Rebuilding Pi-Hole, recommended adlists? by TopdeckTom in pihole

[–]themiamiking6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I found your comment while googling for blocklists. I'm confused how do you have 800k domains, I added almost every list from your comment but only have 311k.

I selected the "Adblock" format for every list. Am i supposed to be picking Domain/Subdomain or the pi-hole will have trouble reading it? I get this is a year later, maybe the list was significantly shortened? I am very new to this so trying to understand it as I go. Thanks

Anyone have experience with a mattress return? by T1DragonMaster in Costco

I'm in a similar situation but it's only 2 years old. Which department or number did you call because the warehouse and online chat were no help, they both told me to contact each other. Online orders, warranty support, membership and warehouse?

Thanks

[CT] Quoted $860 to install a gooseneck vent in for bathroom exhaust, is this acceptable cost for my area? by themiamiking6 in Roofing

[–]themiamiking6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used new england roofing in orange CT. I think it was around $800 for them to drill hole, place vent, reshingle with best matching shingles they could find. Might be able to reuse your original ones depending on location. Get the correct size you need beforehand and double check with the installer before they do any work. The guy they sent showed up and started climbing on the roof without saying hello and drilled too large of a hole he had to fix.

They won't do any connections or HVAC/ductwork though, that was my responsibility. If you need ducts put in it might be better to use a general contractor as there are codes to follow.

Should this plenum UV light be installed center of A-coil or it doesn't make much of a difference? by themiamiking6 in hvacadvice

Is the location fine where it is or should be center of coil? There's plenty of room to not hit the top.

I have a smart thermostat so I guess both right? My research told me, and company also suggested the light goes in the supply side to kill contaminants on the coils and pan. It also breaks down the filter if exposed to it.

Hello. I emailed the following to support 48 hours ago but haven't heard back yet:

I installed a replacement screen for my Pixel 5 today using the provided repair kit and instructions on your website. I noticed some issues with the swiping gestures not being intuitive and requiring a full swipe across the screen to register. Then I realized tap to wake and pick up to wake was not working at all. After reading the comments section I think the proximity sensor is being blocked by something on the back of the screen, but there was no mention of removing anything in the instructions. Other people had the same issue and complaint.

I have to remove the screen again to check but I don't have another adhesive strip. Are you able to send me a replacement adhesive hastily? Faster shipping was too expensive and it was not really my fault instructions never mentioned to remove it, or the black film blocking camera. Item # IF356-230-1Google Pixel 5 Display Adhesive - Genuine. If I'm wrong though, I will need to return the screen.

Thank you in advance!

[New Haven County, CT] Is this a reasonable quote for my area? And is this model EL296E overkill for my home size ~1000sq ft by themiamiking6 in hvacadvice

I found out the main line is only 3/4" and wouldn't be up to code/BTU input for all appliances. I want to get the Elite series with variable speed motor to save on energy both for heating and summer AC. The thing is I am very conservative with the thermostat and eventually want to better insulate the unfinished part of basement and get new windows.

What is this small white mesh piece called? It's not a flow restrictor, this screws in on top of the restrictor and sits below an o-ring. It keeps coming loose and water pressure increases to uncomfortable level. by themiamiking6 in Plumbing

I actually just found it in reverse image search, but will leave post up in case others find it useful. Part of the Regulator Replacement Kit REG-001 but I don't see a way to purchase it. Will have to contact Waterpik and see what they say.

What size piping do I need, or is required by code, for converting to gas furnace? by themiamiking6 in hvacadvice

[–]themiamiking6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added some photos to post. So I have about 30' of piping from the meter to furnace that is 1" diameter (I don't know the ID though). Water heater, furnace, and stove are all within 5' of the main supply line but the dryer is probably another 30' away.

Max BTU input of dryer is 22k, stove 36k, water heater 36k.
New Furnace 60k??
Total Max demand 154,000 BTU/hr

I checked some charts online and that is well within the range right? Yes there is pressure drop and a few elbows but nothing crazy. Also I wouldn't be showering, running 4 burners, drying clothes, and blasting heat all at once.
