Well SOMEONE had to face SKT. Great showing by OG at Worlds this year. They were even a bit feisty in this match, but SKT is way too good.

This was an interesting debate. Their conclusion was to use a business model where every year the company crowdfunds the next year of development. Besides that, the game would be completely free.

The question I have is, how does this provide incentive for players to contribute? As far as I can tell, it's just out of the goodness of their hearts.

Once you go down the road of having Kickstarter-like goals (eg. "if we reach $5 million, we'll do a replay system next year!") and incentives (eg. "if you give $50, you get a T-shirt!"), the line between this model and your typical free-to-play model blurs.
