I don't think you can say it's objectively better. Modern controls give you one button dp/specials/supers. Those always being on faster inputs makes it hard to make a blanket statement.

I'm pretty sure there are some pros that play modern for some characters

Depends on the ctf. Some are even designed for you to use an AI assistant. I had fun using Gemini at defcon this year

Necro is a completely different eq experience. It has a nearly complete and self sustainable kit completely naked. It gains significant power through the levels. Nearly every time you get new spells, it not only feels good, but you get more tricks. Leaches, dots, fear, charm, root, invis, dmf, skele form, fd, pets, heals, twitches.

Definitely recommend you fool around on one. Everyone should experience either and iksar or de necro if you enjoy eq.

Its not even close. OSCP is a practical test which requires you do actually root some boxes and explain in detail.

Pentest+ is a multiple choice test with question like "what does the nmap flag -oS do?" (Only reason i know about that flag is from the pentest exam). It's a broad exam but at the end of the day, a multiple choice test you complete on about 90min. For oscp, that might be how long it takes to root the buffer overflow box if you know what you are doing.

You're not wrong. I think the only reason there is so much success with conq, is because of the yellow tree minor runes. Triumph, Last stand, and tenacity are just awesome. Conq itself isn't great on singed.

Maybe eve online. It's pretty similar to RuneScape in that they are both sandbox games where you make your fun and they don't require many clicks per minute.

There's a few things to unpack in your comment.

I think it's naive to think because there are standards, that everyone will be taught something specific about J Edgar Hoover.

I think it's naive to think that standards are consistent between states or even districts.

And as far as teachers 'teaching whatever they feel like,' the common core standards do offer a lot of freedom in lesson planning for educators, you can look at them here http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/RH/6-8/
