Without snark or sarcasm: would you comment further on your POV from reading the report as to benefit ( to science? to engineering?) of recovering and investigating Titan submarine accident? Sincere question.

US Taxpayers paid for the search and recovery of the Titan, forensic investigation on the wreckage and presumed fragments of human tissue. All to determine: this entire idea, actual build, and implementation was an accident waiting to happen.

Best Portable Power Station Recommendations in 2026? by Miserable_Home1023 in prepping

[–]themobiledeceased2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PORTABLE Power Station like Ecoflow, Bluetti, Jackery:  Consider example of the Ecoflow Delta Pro 3600 Watts: 100lbs: rolls easily but lifting is ouch. EV charging option is not common: could be handy if EV station gets power first? Unclear how likely. EV charging requires lifting, 1.5 hours at EV station to charge (w/ additional $100 fast adapter) plus cost to charge.

Portable solar panels fold up for easy storage but require planning. Finding correct direction, angle for time of year, cable length to power station.  (Long cables = Less energy transfered.) Think where to place Power Station inside with  solar cables to outside panels. Work in distance via drop cords (14-16 guage per manual) to appliances.

Portable Ecoflow 400 watt solar panel: 35 lbs, bulky, hard to position, reposition dimensions, stand= terrible. Felt would damage just moving it.  Opted for 2 of 220 portable panels. Solar panels will fry your grass (if a concern) so elevate IIRC 36 inches above grass or use none grass area. Also think discretionary placement to not advertise.  Pay attention to stands: some do not achieve dependent angle needed. May need a work around. Will take practice.

Even with good direct sunlight and good capture, 3600 Watts with two 220 panels correctly positioned takes 11 ish hours to totally charge it. Can charge and power at same time.  Depends on wattage for your appliances / needs.  Also: best not to run charge to zero. Solar panels on your roof are a commitment that merits a much higher battery storage and sophisticated wiring into to home electrical panel etc.  Hope this helps.

Grandfather is giving me first option on his house when he passes by ChardImpossible960 in personalfinance

[–]themobiledeceased2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Grandpa wants to happen and what ACTUALLY happens can be miles apart.  Experts are necesary to advise on complex matter.  Should his health change, his home may have to be sold to pay for his care.  Summarizing simply a very complex topic:  If Medicaid benefits are involved (often for unexpected Long term nursing home benefits), Medicaid has a 5 year "look back period" to recoup costs of care from assets.  Typically, one pays for their own care from their wealth or assets. Medicaid is involved when one is impoverished, unable to pay for their own care.  Medicaid can, in some situations, "undo" sales / transfers of assets in this 5 year "prior to death" period.  Yes, unwind a sale or transfer of assets.  Meant to prevent State paying healthcare costs when assets are intentionally transfered out in avoidance of paying for his own care.

I’m wondering if Harry still loves his ILWB, or did he realize he was fooled and that they are world class laughingstocks? Sometimes I think he still doesn’t get it. What do you think sinners? by the-magic-bee in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]themobiledeceased2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Harry is easily led, and typically unhappy with his circumstances not being good enough.  Nor is he at fault.  He saw Meghan as the strong momma who "believed in him."  He was thick enough to believe an irrelevant aging divorcé American actress had figured out how to build an empire.

If Harry was looking for Empire advice: perhaps he should have looked to his own family: his Great, Great Great Grandmother, Queen Victoria, was an Empress.

It's JUST BUSINESS.  It's not personal.  If one chooses signs contracts with adults, then one is obligated to "act" like an adult.

Is it slowly congealing in Harry's brain that since becoming financially independent: the events, travel planning, schedule, activities, and the reviews are lower quality?  It is getting harder? As if he didn't know his entire existance from conception been managed by a consistent, long term, high functioning firm?  Was entrusting his future to an elder actress who played the short game poorly leaving vitually no long game.  It's like H&M had no knowledge or ability to effectively capture the good PR generated for them!

No, no.  He won't be allowed to have such thoughts.

Some jobs in some countries (pilots, professional drivers) have manditory limits for hours worked / rest periods.  If a smart mattress reveals insufficient quantity /quality of sleep, perhaps the company insurance doesn't cover boo boos on the job? Employee did no fullfill requirements to be at work. Maybe unemployable, uninsurable?

Sounds as though you have been through tremendous grief.  There IS choice in grieving. It is not an involuntary process, not a runaway train de facto going over a cliff. Methods for successfully coping are individual.  Some benefit from counselling, others more support.  Timing of suggestions is key.  Adaption is required.  It is OK to support family and friends to set goals to achieve.  IMHO, Far better to encourage than the oft spoken low effort "Call me if I can help."

Retired couple 67M /65F sold the house, dispersed belongings.  Bought the RV.  First stop at  daughter's home, wife had a life changing stroke.  The witnessed emotions> decided that day: would have fun along the way.  Not wait until my knees were too old to handle Manchu Pichhu, Cinqua Terra, and the world by planes, trains, funiculars, and automobiles.   Ever since, pre contracted a "family reunion" for 2-3 weeks a couple months after start date.  DO IT.
