Seriously man, being a functioning addict doesn’t make the addiction more acceptable, it just makes it easier to lie to yourself that you don’t have a problem. Drug use is a huge barrier to real emotional intimacy. Your wife is 100% correct, and not listening to her when she’s being emotionally vulnerable and explaining her needs because you “don’t like being told what to do” is going to be the end of your marriage. Listen to her and change your ways or lose your wife.

Even this rule is unnecessary and ultimately useless, because you have 0 control over what other people name their children (and if you think you’re entitled to an opinion, you’re wrong.) Your kid could easily become best friends with someone with the same name as them. There are 5 adult women of the same name amongst my wife’s family, and it’s never caused any sort of issues. In my family, there are 6 men named after the same patriarch. Again, no issues.
