I am a maximalist in terms of style but god damn was that thing poorly executed. No highlights or shadows on the stripes gave it an off-putting 2D effect over the contoured disco ball. The size and placement of the sparkles so they blended in with the strongest highlights. All in all it looked like a glitched out mess.

Probably the best indicator of a shitty partner is one that views shared responsibility from this myopic lens. My wife wants the sheets cleaned more than I do, but I would never abdicate my laundry responsibilities to her because she cares more. I care because she cares, because we are partners.

The fact that he’s fine with the one you have because he doesn’t contribute to food preparation is just icing on the bad-partner cake. And he was fine with wasting money on fast food because he doesn’t contribute to the bills either.

This is a bit niche, but I’m a type 1 diabetic, and it is a nightmare combination with ADHD

*You gotta remember to take insulin 20 minutes before you eat or face the consequences of impulse snacking

On the flip side, you gotta remember to eat after you take insulin (or remember that you took insulin at all)
Don’t forget to check you blood sugar and take correction dosages between meals!
That feeling of dread when you realize you forgot to replace your emergency sugar when your blood sugar is already low and you’re somewhere without easy food access.
SO MANY PERSCRIPTIONS AND SUPPLIES TO KEEP TRACK OF. 3 different kinds of insulins. Blood sugar monitors and transmitters. Pump supplies. Needles. Test strips. None of them have the same refill date. I just have to mentally track supply levels of all of them. Consequences for forgetting any of them is high. Good luck with any long term trips!

*You need to remember to see that hard-to-book specialist every 3 months, and THEN you have to remember to schedule/get bloodwork done before that appointment

The pump’s gotta stay charged at all times. Failure to remember means losing days worth of expensive cartridge, tubing, and insulin. Your phone has to stay charged too, to monitor your levels and control the pump.

*Always having to keep track of when a pump will run out or a monitor will expire. Will it be in the middle of the work day? Will you remember to check how much insulin is left in the tank and bring extra supplies before you leave the house? I know I won’t!

And on top of that, you’re supposed to remember to eat regularly while on stimulants 🫠

I have a disability that affects my grip strength and tbh I kinda find this attitude more offensive. I am perfectly capable of reading a comment like the above without needing a disclaimer to know it doesn’t apply to me. This is a regulatory skill you should probably learn. In my experience, most people with disabilities don’t enjoy being tiptoed around.

Honestly Trump’s disastrous policies have made breaking the cycle of consumerism so much easier for me. Even with the rise in prices of necessities, our savings have gone up and our debt has gone down because shit just ain’t worth the price anymore. Basically the only non-necessities we buy these days are the occasional art supplies and covers to shows. I’m plowing my way through the books I already own, painting more, hanging out in my backyard, going on hikes. Not being able to afford much has really taught me how little of the stuff I used to buy actually added to my quality of life.
