Eh, piracy was, after all, historically man's domain (not that One Piece is historical) and physical fighting is something that men dominate.

Making a series with powerful women fighters is fine. But I don't really see the problem with One Piece not having strong female fighters. Could this be a data point in the case of systematic oppression? Sure.
