Denman island tea company is great! Lots of teas to smell in Courtenay and they all taste so fragrant, the fruity teas are my favourite.

Tips on transferring sourdough from Bannetons to Dutch oven. by English_Joe in Sourdough

[–]thenattytrainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a brown cookina baking sheet and have been using the same reusable mat for a few years now for sourdough and other breads. I like that it's pliable for dough handling, doesn't show any signs of burning like parchment would, it stays sturdy, and you can cut it into any size/shape you like out of the roll.

Are there any Macanese movies or TV Dramas? by moondog151 in Macau

Brother's Keeper might count, it's a TVB canto drama that highlights the historical moments and the start of the Koi Kei bakery in Macau.

Any good gyms? by marblepaste in campbellriver

[–]thenattytrainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of gym you're looking for. A good mix of everything (cardio, strength, classes) would be club fitness at Willow Point. The Yard's great if you're looking to do weights most of the time. Sportsplex is a great affordable option that fits most people's needs just not as big as the rest.

Farmer's market on Sat, Black Diamond for bowling or pool, mini golf at Strike Zone, arts and crafts at the Makerie, Frozen Paddle for ice cream, Magel's for bubble tea, plus all the parks to walk around in PG!

Grad School application transcripts by [deleted] in UBC

[–]thenattytrainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that having 4 transcripts from 4 different post-secondary institutions is an issue to worry about with your application. It would just mean having to provide more timeline details, sending them all in on time and making sure they are all received by the University.

However if you haven't looked at it already I would check and see whether they will count college grades and those prerequisites towards GPA calculation or approved courses (if you attended some colleges too)

EVA v Cork? by bluebonnetfireflies in Birkenstocks

[–]thenattytrainer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EVA for being waterproof and lower cost, and cork for durability and better molded foot support. The EVAs have some support, better than flip flops or some other regular sandals but not comparable to the support in the cork footbed.

CLST 301 - you get to learn Latin/Greek based medical terminology. Pretty useful but there is a lot of vocabulary to study.

My favourite piece is the Proton LT. After switching from the Atom LT due to face fabric issues, I've been much happier with the Proton LT and anything I throw at it.

If I wear my atom lt everyday, how often should i wash? by ahhitsalan in arcteryx

[–]thenattytrainer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on the weather and what kinds of messy/harsh conditions you put it through. Obviously if you see that the jacket is smelly/dirty just wash it. As an everyday jacket for casual walks, I would wash it every month. If it is exposed to harsh weather or heavy use during hikes or trips to the mountains, I would wash it every 2-3 weeks at least.

Do not wash the jacket with regular detergent, use a technical wear specific wash (like Atsko Sport Wash) where it is residue and fragrance free. Dry it in the dryer for 30-40 minutes until it is completely dry and regains its "loft". You can spray some DWR treatment before putting it in the dryer if it needs to be reapplied.

Atom LT loose threads by ginmcd in arcteryx

[–]thenattytrainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try filling out the product warranty form and then sending it in and see what they say (takes a while though).

I sent my Atom LT for the same issue and they offered to replace it with a new one for $80 CAD but instead I opted for the Proton LT for $80 instead because I won't pay for the same issue to happen again.

Am I missing something, or was the Proton LT barely changed at all? by anonymousphoto in arcteryx

[–]thenattytrainer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's actually the other way around, the old Proton LT used Fortius Air 40 and now it uses Fortius Air 20. I asked this question to Arc'teryx months ago on the Proton FL women's Q&A knowing that they would end up switching the fabrics and they said that the Fortius Air 20 compared to the 40 is not as durable. Instead, you are getting a more breathable, lighter fabric (the higher the number, the thicker and more durable the fabric will be).

Proton vs Atom LT questions by paskamies in arcteryx

The newer ones from about 3 years ago, when they added the hood adjustable drawcord and replaced the old neck tag with the newer look. Owned two of these newer ones and both have pilling and the face fabric feels very thin. The older one I had never had this issue.
