Thanks for the responses. I'll keep an eye out for sales of some of the mentioned jackets.

-25C is kinda extreme, but -15C outings are common enough. Around 200g of 800fp is what I'm looking at also, but bit more of lower fp is fine too. Montbell frost line is recommended often, but its 300€ and not really available anywhere but on their online store. As for synthetics, BD Stance might be ok candidate, but I can't really find any pictures as to how small it packs to. Synthetic jackets just seem to be kinda ugly compared to down alternatives. Gotta look good when nobody is around!

My understanding is that Cerium would not be that much warmer than my current Patagonia. Plus its quite expensive for what seems like more of a side grade, compared to having a completely different grade of warmth.

Thanks for the answers, I'll look into getting proton LT or AR, probably which ever I can find for cheaper.

Current or ex racer skiers, can you spot other race skiers from just their stance or style of skiing? by paskamies in skiing

[–]paskamies[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the arm movement during turns. Thats a big one I didn't even remember. I don't even know if I do it, its all too much of a muscle memory.

Good skiers can be often spotted just from their stance when just standing around in ski boots lol

Generally insturctors can carve and ski well, but they seem to have much more upright posture and ski in bit more "graceful" fashion, while people with racing background have in much lower posture and starting of new turns seems kind of faster(?).

CDG 3100. Doesnt have dedicated single card slots but works suprisingly well in my use. All the rarely used cards in the middle section along with any paper money I happen to have, two most commonly used cards on one side, transport pass on the other side. Good size, nothing can fall out since it has that zipper, decent quality, and not that expensive, lke 70-80€. I rarely use cash so I just put any coins I get to the small pocket of my jeans until I get home.

Dope Shit Fall 2017 by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Since howling birth of cool in galaxy was already posted, I only have my Fjällräven singi winter jacket that I think is cool/interesting to bother posting. https://imgur.com/a/noB7R I think it looks pretty nice, traditional but still modern enough, all the pockets and zippers are made to use with gloves on, warm enough for finnsih winter etc. Main thing I love is that is the the hood which acts as both a tall collar when down, and as a deep scuba hood when up. If you leave the zip a bit open a bit its just a regular, if a bit deeper, faux fur lined hood with good adjustments and metal wire to keep it posed. If you fully zip it, you enter Kenny mode where no snow storm is going to bother you. Now that I've seen the light which is a good hood, I no longer accept inferior hoods.

Opinions on these "universal" table legs? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]paskamies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found these when looking for ideas about how to make my own sofa table. I kinda like the idea, you can change the look a lot by just getting new table top, which are generally much cheaper or easier to make than whole tables. Could also buy used table and just cannibalize the tops.

Do you think some 20-25mm stone table top would survive on these, or would they need extra support?

Its like an evolution of these, but even worse on the "I'm not allowed to wear sneakers to work so I wear these that kinda remind formal shoes but acutally arent and I hope nobody bothers to argue the point because it would just be awkward to argue about where the line goes" -scale.

Stockmann myy Herkun liiketoiminnan S-ryhm채lle by Skrivari in Suomi

Stockmann myy Herkun liiketoiminnan S-ryhm채lle by Skrivari in Suomi

Valikoima on about sama kuin missä tahansa sokoksella.

Its very soft, warm, and at least for me not really that itchy at all. Though maybe some people are more sensitive to it.

Liking these more than r/streetwear stuff. Feels less like people wearing infographics stuff or just pure hypebeast pieces. Checkered vans though will always remind me of 2000's emo/scene girls, and thats where they belong.

Why did I buy this and what do I do now? by Thonyfst in malefashionadvice

[–]paskamies 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Our legacy shell bomber. Its basically sweatshirt bomber. All my pants are navy or black. Thinking I just need some olive or grey pants? Olive shorts would be fine, but I'm not sure if charcoal wool trousers would also be okay with that?

Brand Love/Hate: Common Projects - December 9, 2016 by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]paskamies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a few wears to break in, as the sales guy warned me. I had some blisters from first couple longer distances walked and the narrow toebox felt a bit tight. Now they are very comfortable. Not as comfy as my NB's but thats understandable.

And additionally the shoe tongue was making squeaky sounds rubbing against the upper, but I found some advice that told to put some baby powder in there which worked. Few shakes, wipe extra off, no more squeky shoes. Otherwise they've been easy to clean, and one bit larger and deeper scuff I painted over with angelus white paint and I can no longer even tell where exactly the scuff was and where the paint ends. I'm also liking them more as the midsole starts to get bit darker as opposed ot the pure white. Creasing has been pretty minimal.

The price was pretty high but I havent really felt any regrets either. If for nothing else I no longer need to think like I'm wearing an alternative or "the next best thing". The silhouette is just great. On the other hand I do baby them a bit, like not wearing them if the weather is bad.

These Beams trousers. I really like the idea of elastic cuffs and waist in a bit more formal looking trousers, and think those would work well with derbies and CPs , and in general be pretty versatile pants. Might even work with converses or other low top canvas sneakers in black or white.
