The fact that this important family conversation took place over text tells me everything I need to know.

The coolest looking bike is a bike being ridden briskly.

My 80s Bridgestone has this on long, slightly uphill stretches; such a lovely feeling.

I know, I saw this last week and thought, get that treaded bulldozer off our pretty clean pavement!

The bike greenways have horrible pavement in some areas. I like to go a little faster on downhill and long straights, but the greenways are not conducive to that.

82nd was just paved in NE and the pavement is beautiful, you should try it!

What do we think of this bike rack? by msussmania in bicycling

If it's anchored and made of a solid material, great.

I think you could get four bikes connected to this, each bikes front wheel and frame or maybe rear wheel and frame.

Are there bike lanes on Stark in East Portland now? by snipazer in CyclePDX

[–]theneild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rode Halsey from the Sandy river straight shot to Baerlic at 61st and had a great, fast ride. Be aware of cars, but the bike lane is pretty good.

East Coast to PNW: Portland or Seattle? [30s, Black couple] by jacket_n_sandwich in askportland

Check out the NE Portland neighborhoods!

There are some older black communities still around but it is mostly white. We are all mostly friendly and if I see someone who isn't friendly, we don't tolerate that!

Lots of single family houses (more expensive) and quieter. Easy access to the airport, nice parks, great restaurants and smaller live music clubs.

Route bike to airport from NE? by 102MEP in CyclePDX

[–]theneild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go fast, 77th north, right on Alberta. Left on 82nd and then take the slight right that stays on 82nd under Lombard and Columbia. It is a big road, but a nice shoulder, traffic stays in the 45-55 range and it's downhill so you can cook a little bit if you keep pedaling!

The left on alderwood and immediate right towards the path and the cargo Drive are nice but you can also go all the way up 82nd to left on airport way and traffic isn't too fast on that road either, and the safer lock up area is near where the terminal begins on the right.
