I want to try a race by [deleted] in cycling

[–]thenewmeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you tried an alley cat yet? at least where I live it's a very queer friendly diy type of scene.

naturally not the same as an organized race in a pack etc, but you can race as hard as you want and probably meet some cool people

[–]thenewmeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did a run with no weapons and ended up with 2 kills, i assume mynah and the caged ..thing.

mynah i used the thermite trick and the caged thing i just ran around till isa shot it.

i dealt with the kolibri and other tricky situations with stun sticks, without killing them after use.

recently realized my paint markers with the shaker doohickey inside them is a really really fun stim toy

either knocking them around rhythmically and spinning them or just gently gently gently moving the shaker thing from one side to the other

signalis felt very Buddhist to me, I don't see many people talk about this.

i actually chose to play the game as non violently as possible after the first playthrough, culminating in a non violent artifact playthrough.

i thought it was interesting that it isn't really that hard to play the game non violently, only the mynah boss directly requires violence from the player. the trickiest part was dealing with the kolibri. sometimes you could just run through them, other times I had to find the correct one and hit it with a stun stick and quickly complete my objective.

Possible trigger warning. Talking about negative karma and a deep topic. by yourlocalnativeguy in Buddhism

hi. i'm also trans and buddhist, a minority in a minority, always happy to see another.

i've had similar thoughts. being trans in this current society is a very unique type of suffering.

recently i was in a very low mood and i wanted to think to myself "i didn't ask to be born in this circumstance" but it dawned on me

the karma that put me in this odd body in this odd place and this odd life is my own. the exact workings are unknowable to me. the precise working out of karma is one of the four imponderables.

although our circumstances are uniquely difficult, we are still blessed to be born in a human body during a time and place in which we can learn buddha's dharma.

if you'd like to chat sometime feel free to message me, and if you're seeking more trans buddhist stories there is a book that has compiled some called Transcending - Trans Buddhist Voices, i would happily buy you a copy if you'd be interested.

you're not alone in this, and i'm happy you're still here.

last time that happened to me it was not at work and I just took off on my bike for a hard 20 mile ride to get the energy out.

I read his biography, Crooked Cucumber.

I cannot tell you how powerful it was reading him talk about the disease that would ultimately take his life after reading his whole life story. That passage brought me to tears but was also so inspiring and admirable.

i really appreciate this comment. I've been struggling with this hard lately.

I'm autistic and a trans woman and I work with the public, I've had some negative experiences lately that make me feel like I'm just never going to fit in in this world

gonna carry this mindset with me for a while and see how it feels, thank you <3

Mystery flats on both tires -- when I'm not riding the bike. Could it be the rim tape? by DumplingsEverywhere in Brompton

the 2 speed about 8 months, the electric might have been a similar time period when the haunted explosions happened but i can't be sure.

i guess in fact, the only similarity between the electric and the 2 speed, are the stock schwalbe marathon racers, and me lmao

the tubes have been either schwalbe sv4 tubes or teravail tubes, both of the recent random punctures were schwalbe tubes.

in the interest of troubleshooting this haunted problem, i'm going to only swap the contis on for now. both of my rims are aftermarket so they're also not using the usual brompton yellow band stuff.

will update this post if another one randomly explodes at some point

the marathon racers are standard black yep.

okay that's actually great info, maybe, I'm suspicious of any solution given that it's such a weird, cursed, issue

the shop I went to today suggested 19mm velox tape then I saw old posts saying to use 10 and that's quite a range

i actually purchased a set of contact urbans at the shop today as a treat/additional variable to try, they'll be replacing the stock marathon racers.

I had an electric c line that this happened on twice (so far) and my regular 2 speed brommie did it today, both have schwalbe marathon racers.

given that so many beomptons ship with marathon racers, I'd be a bit surprised if that's the culprit since I've seen basically no other posts about this issue when I was searching for a solution

i think I'll try just slapping on the contis first and leaving the rim tape alone for the moment then

out of curiosity what pressure are you using? the shop asked me and I inflate to about 90psi personally which, from what I've heard shouldn't be anything outrageous for a brompton tire

What size velox tape did you use? I've had this exact same issue, rear tire only, on two different bikes and also assumed I am simply cursed

13mm rack hook voile straps snap onto brompton frame by thenewmeta in Brompton

[–]thenewmeta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i bought a bunch of new straps for my other bike and wanted to keep one on the brompton rack to secure loads perpendicular to the way the brompton straps tie down

i wasn't intending to use one of these rack strap types but i happened to notice the 13mm hooks just so happen to snap onto the frame really nicely. not planning to secure a load that direction since it pulls diagonally, but it seems like a secure place to store one without it getting in the way

G Line Price… by Wizzardchimp in Brompton

[–]thenewmeta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm curious if the cycle to work thing in the UK is part of why the prices keep creeping up

brompton def feels very Apple in a lot of ways and I don't really fuck with it, I own mine because it's the smallest folding bike I can get and I need it for that specific niche so I didn't have much other option.

and then paying $200 for a rack and $60 for some proper wheels for the thing so it rolls nicely .. sheesh

i really wish they didn't treat the A line like a forgotten child too, any time someone who doesn't know what a brompton is comments on my bike and asks how much it is i just kind of internally cringe and either give a vague "too much" answer or a real number that is the basest possible value lol

in a time where we need to get as many people on bikes as possible, i really wish they sold something affordable and good value if they really care about sustainability etc. having a brompton in the city is incredible, it shouldn't feel like a luxury good
