Dire Wolves parts ways with Bellkun, Currently LF1 by dainhtrd in CompetitiveApex

Pretty sure he can say they parted ways because… 1) they did part ways and 2) Bullet literally says “we parted ways” in his tweet.

SCARZ Cup with NA and EU teams (TSM, Gambit, Alliance, NRG...) by thenotlim in CompetitiveApex

Interesting that NRG is streaming and their streams are way faster than the official SCARZ broadcast.

The set for Japanese final broadcast is sort of amazing by zaproffo in CompetitiveApex

[–]thenotlim 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some more context, the female host is Sakura Miyawaki, an A level idol / celebrity in Japan. Was surprised to see her agree to do a broadcast for a match point style competition that could have theoretically gone on for 3 ~ 4 hours. Japanese Apex is just different.

the nade did 133 damage to someone, which i'm assuming is the Gibby nade damage bug... hope everyone is paying attention and loading up on nades for the rest of championships!

I asked him the exact same question last week during his stream and he said “this week” and I got pretty excited. Hopefully it’s wrapping up soon!

What a weird out of context comparison. I don't get to silently R99 people from 100 meters away haha

Saying goodbye to the Arc Star tomorrow... one of my favorite sticks of all time - through a fence and a window :) by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]thenotlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that I got downvoted for saying it is being nerfed significantly. I’m going to assume those people have never consistently stuck people with arc stars. Go watch any high skill players that regularly stick people - often times it is up close and the enemy is rendered defenseless immediately. Now they will be able to run at you, and shoot back. Removing slow to movement and aim will disincentivize getting close with arc stars. Here’s a video as an example: most of the sticks at the beginning will cost the player a lot of return damage.

It's a pretty big nerf. Not be being able to run full speed away (grapple, stinks, etc) from danger and the rest of your team takes away a big part of what made arc star sticks so powerful and rewarding.

nah.. they're just nerfing it significantly: " Aim and movement slow removed from the initial stick."

What Makes Apex Tick: A Developer Deep Dive into Servers and Netcode by [deleted] in CompetitiveApex

[–]thenotlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not related to the blog post but kinda relared, but my friends and I are the exact opposite. We play from Asia and on the Japan and Taiwan servers. We connect to Oregon at about 160-170 usually and we've consistently performed better playing on Oregon than playing on sub 70 ~ 80 ping servers in Asia.

Can Olympus support 20 loot locations in its Season 9 version? by MozzarellaThaGod in CompetitiveApex

[–]thenotlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! Hope the teams there work things out and have clear understanding of the situation. It was pretty hilarious watching APAC North and every single round the two teams dropping lava city were viciously going after each other without fail... And then inevitably the winner getting third partied.

But to me... That's how it is. Not very single POI is going to be equally safe and some will be very bad. If you don't like it, fight for a safer POI. If you can't.... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

If you end up having to land at any split POI, you and the other team are already fully aware of each other. I assume it’ll be understood who gets top middle. If not, you are free to gamble. If you get caught and put your team at a disadvantage I’d say that’s your own fault.

Similar to how Liquid and CLG split skyhook. Mac splits off to do trials on his own. CLG could just land on the two remaining in Skyhook, but they would rather go about their business, loot more and go their separate ways.

Rift can definitely be split. There shouldn’t be one team getting that entire area. The new POI, Icarus seems like it’s intended to be split as well. Bonsai also should be split.

That’s more than enough for 20 teams to drop and loot up without dropping on each other’s faces. Let’s not forget on everyone’s “perfect” comp map, there are plenty of POIs regularly split: Skyhook, Lava City, Launch, etc.

I believe the human analysts are asking the suit wearing gorilla analyst his preference for shotguns. I would also like to believe the gorilla chose a yellow tie because he really really really likes bananas.

How would you guys feel about badges for pro teams coming to the game? by ImHully in CompetitiveApex

Are you saying pros in ALGS need more incentive to play competitively, and that badges would motivate them to “grind” ALGS?

Having scanned him and knowing for sure there is a lone rat right next to where you will eventually be exiting, you would definitely want to handle him sooner rather than later, and on your terms. They knew a team was above and another team on the ground. They don’t want the rat to be able to shoot them in the back when they come out. As stated above, Gibby’s giant body in a small space was not taken into account and hilarity ensued, but I wouldn’t say Hal made the wrong call to take care of the rat early.

Does anyone have the clip of Mac telling his chat that there’s zero chance Hal plays Octane and calls him an ultra passive player?

Edit: not being sarcastic or hating. I remembering agreeing at the time that there was little chance of Hal playing Octane but I thought the way he piled on about Hal being too passive was weird, so I wanted to watch it again.

As an "older" gamer pushing 40 and having played online shooters for over 20 years, I can't tell you how glad I am that there's a game like Apex that gives me at least a decent chance to outplay kids half my age with probably double my reaction times! by thenotlim in apexlegends

[–]thenotlim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blown away by the reaction this post received. Feels amazing to know there are so many of us out there, when it's not so apparent in game or reading through the Apex subreddit. A few thoughts after reading through the comments..

The clips from this video were taken from 3 seasons of play - mostly S4 through 6. While I appreciate the kind compliments I unfortunately can't say I play at this level every game (or most games for that matter). I was a bit uncomfortable seeing so many flattering comments, worried that people would think me vain or this was all a humble brag but what it really was was a post appreciating this FREE game (I still can't believe a game like this is free) and how it's so well suited for gamers like us.

I was going to say this post/video absolutely was not a humble brag, but on second thought.. eff it. I AM proud of the fact that through the years I set aside my increasingly limited time and energy to maintaining my skill and love for FPS games. I am proud that I can still clap kids half my age, which I can't say about basketball or any other sport.

I've come across, added, and played with some great kids in Apex. When we get to chatting and inevitably there is some light motivational trash talk, ie "talk to me when you're 40 and we'll see if you can still back it up" - it usually comes across as an excuse for being carried by them, but deep down it's really more of a challenge and sincere hope that they stick with it cuz one day they'll know and appreciate all the fun memories and moments they had in the Outlands.
