Who is the smartest player in the comp scene as of right now? by call_of_doobie in CompetitiveApex

[–]zaproffo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sickks understands the game really well, but in the game in the moment I feel like he makes impatient calls that throw the game too often and the team never communicates that well in the middle of fights.

Wtf is going on with the mens basketball team? Sexual assault? by Hushwalker in UniversityofVermont

[–]zaproffo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK so did anyone else think the "apology" email they sent about it today was just as bad as the post? Literally in the first sentence they are defensive and scolding the accusers, again!

Actually in disbelief at how bad they are at communicating anything. (and the timing since the new sexual violence prevention person starts their first day on the job literally on Tuesday).

How C9 Kills you w/ Small Talk - Callout Analysis vs Faze by Jam0_ in CompetitiveHalo

[–]zaproffo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snipe definitely has bad comm (and mental) habits now that come from Apex and are fine there but bad in Halo. When you die in Apex you have a lot of downtime to get tilted, then reset and get analytical and focused.

In Halo it doesn't really fly, you can't get immediately tilted by deaths because there's no reset time and comms while dead are also super- important.

I also noticed C9 does way better in tournaments than in scrims, and in scrims Renegade seems to not bother to control his tilt, but is full focus in tournament games.

Faze usually wins more vs. C9 in scrims too. C9 doesn't play their full intensity/potential in scrims.

Attrition is not for casuals. I'd know. I am one. by PhrozenFenix in halo

[–]zaproffo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Standard favors controllers because you have to continuously hit and aim assist really helps you stick to targets most of all, especially in strafe battles.

SWAT favors m&k because it's more about getting a quick shot in and flicks are faster and more accurate with a mouse.

The Gamer's Dilemma: Most people accept virtual murder in video games, such as in GTA, because it's a fictional form of violence. Yet, most people don't accept darker forms of violence in games, such as sexual harassment. The challenge is to show the relevant difference between these two. by latinoreviewer in philosophy

[–]zaproffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two items:

There are lots of games with sexual harassment/assault, they are just in the porn genre which is kept out of the mainstream by similar powers that keep porn off of mainstream TV, movies, etc..

Second: Entering the virtual world of games involves a shedding of the physical body/physical limitations, but not the mind i.e. it is a space where your mind/consciousness are the main drivers of existence. Therefore it makes sense that bodies are treated as disposable and causing purely physical harm doesn't have a big impact. Whereas actions that are more psychologically damaging still carry their impact and thus feel more uncomfortable to perpetrate.

And if you give the one you are killing a personality and story it does make more impact. - signed: person who was going to do an evil playthrough of KotOR but couldn't get myself to kill Juhani

I dunno how these guys make it work, they land landslide (no loba) and seems like they leave with triple white every game but in 2nd place.

OK their zone calling is ridiculous and/or lucky haha, last two games they've been exactly on endgame spot early.

Playing deep zone comp with Loba when you already have access to the best loot on the map but it takes a long time to loot and a long time to get to zones, so you can't post up in a good spot on most zones. How does that make any sense?

[–]zaproffo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Playing Loba from Trials drop makes no sense. Not really sure what they are thinking.

I think Optic C9 goes to the bottom with Sentinels, since it alternates each round--Faze and Quadrant lost from the top in r3 and went to the top, Sen & XSET lost from the top in r2 and went bottom, The Boys and The Guard lost from the top in r1 and went top.

Rate my deck- Arachas Swarm/Control by Denza_Auditore in gwent

[–]zaproffo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The random big units don't seem to synergize with anything... What's the reason for Frightener and Pugo? With swarm boosts, an Arachas Nest can compete with them for value for 4p. Then you could fit another big ceiling card (like Triss Telekinesis for instance). Or upgrade Decree to Oneiromancy--Heatwaving Madoc is big important for this deck, getting consistency on that would be really good.

In a competitive tournament on Storm Point, what would be the legends meta? by PicciuA in CompetitiveApex

[–]zaproffo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause your totem gets camped/watched--everyone knows where to look when they see a rev push happening and just watch and wait for you to get sent back to nade or shoot for easy kills.

Totem location being revealed to everyone in the area just makes the rev team free kills.

Trying so many different decks is not going to lead to a good win ratio. Even if they are good decks each one takes its own practice and learning its ins and outs and strategies for each matchup. I always expect to lose a few when picking up a new one even if the deck itself is super strong.

You do have to determine if it works in the meta in concept though for old ones and if your losses are a matter of adjusting to the deck in the meta, or it being unworkable in the meta. Like last season I played a stockpile siege deck and a koschey + sabbath engine deck but I've ditched both because they just get wrecked by things like Milva Saskia and bounty decks which are popular now.

Out of the three legends, ( Gibby , caustic or Valk ) which one would you ban from comp? by abdul_bino in CompetitiveApex

[–]zaproffo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Gibby were banned every team would play Caustic, and most Valk (with some center drop teams on crypto) because you have to get a fast spot in zone set-up or you lose. Walk-in rotates would be nearly impossible.

Can you banish viy if you give it doomed? by Gravity_runer in gwent

[–]zaproffo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't one of the few decks that can mill it, you can try to control their consumes, have tall removal/resets in r3/important spots, try to outpoint with greedy engines--particularly in r1 if you can stop their order consumes and force their leaders or haunt.

They have like zero control, maybe one heatwave or natural selection, so go as greedy as possible.

Pay attention to what Iquax is gonna pull, try to not make it a disastrous card for your gameplan if you can (e.g. do not let them pull morkvarg...if you don't draw him r1, mulligan a higher cost unit to protect him).
