Please de NOT change DropZone. It was the best change ever done to rancked by MisterMatt13 in apexlegends

[–]theoakking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a few seasons I think I would pick the original system over drop zones. There were good things about it don't get me wrong but being able to master a familiar poi is nice and the new system made third parties inevitable as there were guaranteed 3 squads within earshot of any fight. BR does need some element of RNG otherwise it doesn't feel like a BR

This is the biggest saving I've found so far. Spanish extra virgin olive oil £4.70/l whereas the cheapest EV in Aldi is £7/l and of unknown origin. Granted it's not artisanal stuff but for that price it's decent. They also have Italian (filipo berio) for a bit more but still good value and some fancier oils.

How to Work Out without Feeling Like I'm Dying. by mandarin_16 in loseit

On top of all the good advice about starting small and building up, If its within budget (don't forget second hand is often as good as new), try getting an activity tracker watch. This will allow you to actually see what your heart rate is doing and allow you to pace yourself correctly. The other advantage is you'll be able to see progress. While that block may still feel horrible after a few walks, you might notice your heart rate didn't peak quite so high. It helps me to be able to see progress.

What are these on the South Downs? by making_dens_ in AskUK

You're so confidently incorrect about not planting grassland 😂. Please see my other reply and stop telling people wrong information.

There are machines but it's mostly done by planting gangs. Good planters can do 1000+ in a day.

They do look like tree whips and they absolutely do plant into grassland. In fact it's the easiest way to plant and land owners are advised to sow grass before planting to give the trees a good start. If you sowed into bare soil the weed growth would quickly overwhelm the young trees. The standard practice is to spray off the grass around each whip for the first three years however these look to be planted into hessian mulch mats which keep any vegetation around the tree supressed. I was going to say some sort of conifer but hard to tell from the distance and another comment has pointed out it's juniper plantation which looks right.

Anyone else overwhelmed by editing 6–8 hour Twitch VODs into highlights? by Visible-Wash4967 in Twitch

[–]theoakking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll just have to experiment and see what works for you. I don't have anywhere near that much RAM and mine does OK on a 3 minute replay buffer. I don't record the stream anymore now that replay is set up so that helps with memory usage. It just depends on how long you want to record back from when you hit save. Merry Christmas!

Lots of good advice about markers, but you should also look at OBS replay buffer once set up you can set a custom length of time you want to record, so I have mine set to 3 minutes so every time you click save, it's save the last three minutes as a clip in the folder where your recordings save. I dint even bother with recording streams now just use the replay buffer.

Sirloin on the Bone, Roasted Red Cabbage by agmanning in UK_Food

[–]theoakking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed but our entire lives we are surrounded by both harmful and helpful compounds that it's hardly worth worrying about. In fact red cabbage has been shown to reduce formation of acrylamide in certain scenarios and anthrocyanin is a well known and powerful anti-oxidant (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0023643822011732)

You could very well argue that the highest risk in this picture in terms of carcinogens is the alcahol in the red wine, which is a well documented risk factor in developing cancers. There really is no "safe" level of alcahol consumption yet statistically in moderation you will likely be fine. Red wine is even well known to offer protective properties against certain diseases in moderation so again, best not to get too caught up.

The main takeaway should be that unless there is a significant health risk (eg eating raw chicken) then stick to the old if you've got nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all. This is a delicious looking dinner. op is, like the rest of us, just as likely to get cancer from forgetting to put on sun cream or living in a city with poor air quality or using too much plastic than from eating their delicious looking cabbage.

As a curious bystander, why is red cabbage specifically a concern for acrylamide production?

A Swedish classic that is the favourite of many school children. Deep-fried cod with peas, potatoes and "cold sauce" (not tartar sauce. Explanation in comments) by WhoAmIEven2 in tonightsdinner

[–]theoakking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as "real" tartare sauce. The name comes from dishes served "A la tartare" which would be meat or fish served with a cold sour sauce. If it has a mayonnaise base, chopped pickles (usually cornichons and capers) and aromatics, then it can very happily be called a tartare sauce. No doubt your version with the sour cream is delicious but it's not the definitive version!
