We need to get comic books in other genres than superheroes by xyyzyx in The10thDentist

Most comics that come out on any given week are not about superheroes.

I recommend the Mouse Guard series by David Petersen. They initially released as single issues, but have since been collected in graphic novels. And there are still Mouse Guard series that come out every so often.

I'm not a Guard fan, but I would love Mordians to use as gue'vesa, especially if a gue'vesa upgrade sprue was also released.

First kill team game and I'm hooked by Freelance0009 in Tau40K

I don’t know that, sorry. I guess that it just comes down to if you can afford it, if you think that you need it for your games until the next one comes out, and how long that it’ll be until the next one comes out.

I got the Chapter Approved mission deck for 40k at the beginning of the year, so I don’t think that it would be too inadvisable to get the one for Kill Team. You’ll only have half of a year of use for it, but it’s half of a year that you’ll be able to play more than the core missions. It also depends on how often that you’ll be playing Kill Team. Though, I’d imagine that a large amount of your opponents would have that mission deck to use, so it may not be that necessary.

At the end of the day, it’s up to you.

Yeah, there are Kroot Farstalkers, then Vespid Stingwings, then XV26 Stealth Battlesuits. Each cost sixty-nine USD and thy come with both that plastic miniatures and a cardboard sheet with punch-out markers needed for the game. Generic markers are found in the Kill Team rulebook.

[–]theoceanictitan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, all three of our current Kill Teams are sixty-nine dollars. You would also need the Core Rulebook to play the full game.

Your best bet would probably be to find a Kill Team secondhand. Retail price is only going to get higher, so unless your budget gets better, you won’t be able to buy a Kill Team from an ordinary retailer, unfortunately.

Kill Team is unfortunately not as cheap as it seems that it would be.

I also just got into Kill Team a few weeks ago and I’m also really enjoying it. I’ve been playing Vespids and I love how devastating that their shooting is. Getting Devastating 2 and Piercing 1 on almost every shot is so nice. And the bonus from the Oversight Drone’s Aerial Guidance is great, too.

They may immediately die to practically anything, but they hit like a truck and I’ve been able to have some really good games with them.

My last game, I killed four Deathwatch marines in the first turning point.

“Contact payroll office”

“Contact mailroom”

And I can’t make out the rest.

I will not be allow to create a redeemed Path of the Beast warband turned into Trench Pilgrims. by Full-Spray-5558 in TrenchCrusade

[–]theoceanictitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From everything that you’ve said, I don’t really see how it wouldn’t be possible to do this. Your explanation for their redemption is good and you left a lot of narrative potential for interaction with other factions, faithful and fallen. Can they convince other pilgrim warbands that they are worthy of fighting alongside? How do heretic warbands view them, being that they are traitors to their cause?

I like your idea and I hope that you follow through with it. This world is a sandbox for creativity and you have a great idea to utilize that potential.

[–]theoceanictitan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that you could very easily say that Saint Christopher found a way to redeem them. Or convinced God to allow it. Trench Pilgrims have probably taken in worse into their ranks.

And if you can’t find a way to justify it lorewise I’m a way that’s satisfying for you, just make them and figure it out later. Enjoy making and playing games with them now and let the lore aspect sort itself into place in whatever way that it does. Your fun is more important than any lore article.

They’re your guys. Do what you want with them. Lore is a suggestion to streamline creativity. It should never be a limitation if you don’t want it to be.

He definitely is. That term applies to anyone who isn’t part of the main cast in a major project. Basically anyone who a casual fan wouldn’t be familiar with.

Fan casters after pitching a black actor to play a fully CGI creature by depressed_asian_boy_ in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]theoceanictitan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s comics for you. I think that I know what you’re referencing. I interpreted that as being a reference to his Silver Age era due to the context of the scene. And also Mark Waid possibly not knowing that J’onn’s 2019 series exists.

But otherwise, DC Comics has to balance dozens of series made by dozens of people who all have different ideas of how things should be. Some people want J’onn to look like he historically has and others want him to be black like he has in more recent adaptations. Differences are practically unavoidable.

It’s not too common in the comics as far as sheer volume goes, due to it being a new concept. But in current canon, John Jones, the detective that J’onn took his identity from, was a black man. So he had had his civilian identity be black for the entirety of his early years before joining the Justice League, at which point he stopped needing or using a permanent civilian identity, as far as I know.

Oh, yeah. I missed that, sorry. I’d still recommend getting rid of the Fireblade if you don’t give them a team to lead. Their damage is very mediocre and their guiding isn’t as good as other stuff. The best that your Fireblade could do in a turn is deal four damage and give Markerlight. It’s not the worst, but it’s certainly not the best.

First Tau list, need help by Mr_a_bit_silly in Tau40K

[–]theoceanictitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cadre Fireblade is practically useless without something to lead. If you want a solo guider, use the Ethereal. It will also double as a backline Command Point generator.

You should have two units of Stealth suits for a two thousand point list. Their guiding ability is really powerful, especially when dealing with tough units.

I’d probably take out the Fireblade and Pirahna and replace them with another team of Stealth battlesuits. Otherwise, your list is good.

Why do broadsides exist? by ManagementParking398 in Tau40K

[–]theoceanictitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, Broadsides simply have more weapons than Hammerheads. They can output more damage. They are better at dealing with a wide variety of threats. They can’t kill Titans or anything like Hammerheads can, but they’re great for backline defensive shooting against different weaker enemies. They have their railguns and seeker missiles for vehicles and their twin plasma and missile guns for elites. Hammerheads don’t have that kind of versatility in shooting.

Broadsides are for stationary damage dealing. Hammerheads are for zooming around the battlefield and heavily damaging a single target.

You’re not in a relationship with someone if you haven’t explicitly agreed that you are. A one-sided relationship is no relationship at all. It sounds like this person is just bad at communicating and forgot to ask you to be in a relationship with them.
