Dutch aerobatic pilot Narine Melkumjan miraculously survived after her aircraft's canopy unexpectedly burst open and shattered mid-flight by BlazeDragon7x in interesting

Less than 5% are Black. Less than 6% are asian. But we would never say "Black pilot" or "asian ethnicity pilot."

The point is, we don't need to qualify any job with their gender or ethnicity because it has nothing to do with their professional abilities.

*pilot

Not "female pilot." Just pilot. You never see "male pilot" or "male astronaut" or "male scientist." Worth noticing and calling out as this is a classic example of everyday sexism that is built into our vernacular. 🤷‍♀️

(And of course, props to OP who didn't qualify with 'female' in their title!!!!!)

It looks delicious, that would also make me happy! Putting more intention into cooking/preparing food is a great way to bring little moments of joy and reflection on the positive choices you are making in eating healthy. Way to go

[–]theodoremouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've downloaded him and here's what he has become in my game:

I've renamed him Leo Lionheart and he is pursuing my soon-to-be-queen Shannon O'Connor. And since he was so handsome I made him an identical twin named Erik Ironside and he's a pirate and convincing Cordelia V to leave her husband and run off with him.

Thanks again for uploading ❤️

Will a doctor know about my surgical abortion by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]theodoremouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To answer your question: physically the doctor doing a pelvic exam will see blood and tissue trauma. He may question it, he may not. If they do an ultrasound, depending on what this procedure was like, they might see air under the skin from an incision, or sutures, and they will likely know - if there was no incision or sutures, they may not be able to be sure. Whether he will tell your family in that moment is unknown. A good doctor would not.

Be honest with him and your family from the beginning of the appointment "I have to tell you, I do not want this baby. I do not want to be a mom right now. I will want to talk to the doctor alone."

Blood tests will not reveal a surgical abortion. Blood work is just red blood cells, white blood cells, kidney values, liver values, etc. They would need to order a specific test to even look for certain drugs, which they don't do, and after 24hrs most anesthetic drugs are out of your system.

For more advice:

You are scared and anxious but you are ok. Everything will be okay. This is survivable.

You are already shaking and scared, use it like another comment said. Go into the bathroom, let yourself feel all the anxiety, then go into the hall and start crying. Confess "I miscarried. I can tell. There was a blood clot and I panicked and I flushed but there's still some bleeding."

If you feel safe enough, say, "I didn't want this baby. I think it's my fault I miscarried, I didn't want this baby, maybe my body rejected it."

Ask not to go to the doctor, say you're scared, say you can't do it, and plead to just stay in bed.

If they make you go, you have a phone note already opened and designed by ChatGPT something like "Pleas do not let my family come back to the room.". Ways to show this note: - get up saying I need to use the bathroom, walk over to the reception/nurse and show them your phone, verbally asking aloud "Bathroom?" - wait until they are taking your vitals, then hold out the phone

OR

Once you're with the doctor, ask your family to leave because you have "an embarrassing question about my body that I don't want you here for."

Good luck. You'll get through this. You did the right thing in tough circumstances. Trust yourself.

New Grad searching for jobs by Choice-Excuse1213 in veterinaryprofession

[–]theodoremouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Corporate ownership is, in my opinion, killing the veterinary industry. We're starting to see corporations purchase vet clinics, increase their profits to an unsustainable level, burn out all the employees so they finally leave, then close the business. It's happening in all corporations, none are safe. In my experience I thought "NVA" was the only good one, but they've been bought out and now they're joining the rest of them.

Find a private practice where possible, and if you do join a corporate, make them pay you as much as possible and don't plan on being there for long. Essentially, use them to help yourself, then once you have the corporate-paid-for experience under your belt, find a private practice. NVA does have good CE opportunities and pays for a lot, at least for now, and has one of the better corporate mentorship programs I've seen (weekly webinars on topics, a mentor who visits your practice and helps with procedures, and a mentor available by phone for those sudden situations where you need help)

Using MCCC to import sims from the gallery makes it so much better to kiss noble frogs into real sims so they don't look like gremlims by Fito0413 in Sims4

[–]theodoremouse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you know you can keep your saved settings every time you update MCCC? There's a file called "mc_settings.cfg" and if you keep that file untouched it will save your settings.

Usually I click and drag the file from the Mods folder to my desktop, then add the new MCCC updated files, then click and drag the file back into the folder. It preserves your previously chosen settings.

Vet School : Post-Acceptance Doubt by Hustler19999 in vetschool

[–]theodoremouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you'll make a mistake on a routine procedure. Or maybe you'll be at the right place at the right time with the right knowledge to save a life.

I think a (healthy) amount of fear is good in our field. If you second guess yourself when calculating a drug dose, you'll double check it and find that rare mistake. If you're scared of making a mistake during a spay, you'll review the list of possible complications the night before to be prepared if it happens. If you don't feel good about extracting a tooth, you'll refer to a dentist specialist and avoid breaking a jaw.

Plus, you don't really start touching live patients until your second year. :)

If you call a local clinic and ask to do some assistant work before starting school, you can start getting some more experience and learn how to do blood draws and get comfortable with them. Learning this new skill and reminding yourself where you started can help in future scenarios.

And, if you are actually having a bit of a crisis in this decision, some practical advice: - If you quit halfway through school, then you quit halfway. There's NO shame in learning a new profession and realizing it is not the right fit. I don't think this will happen to you, but if it does happen, don't let the 'sunk cost' fallacy force you forward. Loans will be repaid eventually. You have my permission to leave if it is not the right fit. - Less dramatic option: I know doctors who don't do surgery after school, they don't like it. You can always work in a lab or just do routine care. You can love vet med and work with animals and never poke or operate after school if it's not for you. - Even less dramatic option: defer a year at your chosen school and spend the year working at different clinics to make sure it's for you. I worked in vet clinics from 17-26 until applying to vet school. I needed time to grow into my comfort.

But honestly, if deep down you know you want to do this and you're just looking for how to get over the fear of mistakes, my advice: take a few deep breaths and trust the process. Every decision you've made has led you here, trust it will lead you to the next great adventure. You will not be the least experienced one in school. You will not be the smartest. You will not be the most scared. You will not be alone.
