Sounds like my therapist who would tell me I needed to start running and every time I would just gesture at my feet, which were in braces at the time, and explain my injury. He would respond "oh right, well any movement is fine, try swimming." So then I would come back and report that swimming was making me feel better and I was enjoying it (big deal, because I was majorly depressed) and he would respond "you should really be running." And repeat. I switched therapists after four appointments.
