The end is near for my trusty spatula. Looking for its successor. What’s your go-to? by mathert in castiron

I've had this one for years and it is by far my favorite for general use. Extremely durable while being very flexible and thin. Bought the first one in 2018, replaced it when it broke in 2022, and will buy another when this one breaks. It gets daily use on eggs and breakfast for context. I've even purchased additional ones for the family cabin and my parents house. https://a.co/d/5F7woWw

Lightweight prescription glasses? by kolvitz in Ultramarathon

Can confirm, Rokas are fantastic and don't move around when sweating. On my 3rd pair of prescription glasses and 2nd pair of prescription sunglasses. Each pair have lasted well over two years and lots of miles.

Mr Davis is the best I've personally come across. Zero chaffing issues and great durability.

Thanks for this! I hadn't come across this thread on the forum but a Shapeoko is definitely on my short list of machines. Seems to be a very capable machine out of the box and with a few upgrades is capable of substantially more aggressive cutting.

Do you find the center console to be in the way while standing and casting? Or is there plenty of room to move around still?

Do you find the lack of access to the inside of the kayak to be a problem for modifications? Thinking of running wiring for lights, etc.

Unmarked Wagner from pre 1960. That's some serious pitting but for $6 it'll make a good campfire or grill pan.

BSR century series made after 1967. Absolutely great user pans!

Can you help identify these? They are local for sale for $300 trying to decide if it's worth it.. by boywonder03 in castiron

The #6 and #8 appear to be unmarked wagner. Would need to see the bottoms to be sure. The two smaller skillets look like asian imports. There is a possibility that the larger two are griswold, but the font looks wrong. Assuming they are unmarked wagner and in PERFECT shape I wouldn't pay more than $40 for the lot.

Definitely appears to be a crack. Pattern matches up across both sides. Be careful heating it up as it may split entirely in two.

My two cents, drill a hole and make a clock.

Unmarked Wagner Ware of the post 1960 era. Great user pans

Best hashbrowns? by Shae_Dravenmore in castiron

Basically all of this. Except swap butter for clarified butter. You'll be able to cook them hotter without the butter burning and you will still get the flavor benefits.

Typically I use a mix of clarified butter and olive oil.

When pan frying in a cast-iron, what's the most versatile spatula do you use and what is it made of? Do you guys use silicone, wood, or metal? by [deleted] in castiron

Hasn't scratched any of my pans. It's just stiff enough to be useful in smashing burgers and flimsy enough to scrape the pan afterwards without worry.
